#Mitsumi vs. Panasonic

Robert,
The CDROM that you have just purchased, is it a CR-562- Panasonic, if so I have
just upgraded from my Mitsumi (less than 6 months old). But the spead is well
worth it!
Cheers,
Martin.
Martin, Yes, I purchased the Panasonic and I liked the speed of the drive very
much. However, because of arcane details and a bit of miscommunication, it
wasn't exactly the drive that I thought I wwas buying. So, thank heavens, the
vendors were kind enough to exchange it for credit toward a Toshiba 3401. Plus,
they gave me a great price, $479 with a trantor adapter and SCSI Works. So I'm
a happy camper. Best, Bob
Robert,
So what was wrong with the Panasonic<g>? Let me guess you wanted a SCSI drive
and the Panasonic SCSI is not yet avaiable.
Cheers,
Martin.
Bingo! I'm thinking of making the move to OS/2 and worried about being able to
have drivers and whatnot. Also I live in Arizona and dust is a really big
problem down here. I figured the little extra protection the Toshiba afforded
might be worth it. Assuming, that is, that dust is as big a deal as people say.
On the other hand, I loved the price/performance ratio on the Panasonic and
would instantly recommend it to anyone. It's a darn nice drive and the price
can't be beat. I mean for $100 more than a Mitsumi you get a double speed
performance. Nice.
Best, Bob
