#Supra144 LC problem

Couple of months ago I got Supra 144LC modem. It worked fine util 288 modems showed up. Nomatter what I do I can never connect to a 288 modem (it intero gates mine, but connection never happens) I can't even connect to Supra's BBS Can anyone help?? Also, I heard that the new 144LC is different. The ROM version is 1.411 instead of 1.80. Is there a big difference between the new and old LC? (I wanted to called Supra tech, but I figured that Amiga comunity on CompuServe has a lot more experience)
