#Golden Gate

Hi folks,
I have a reader in Israel who has replaced his PC with an A4000 and a Golden
Gate. The PC was connected to a manufacturing controller (serial port), with
software on the PC for operator control. He wants to set up CanDo on the Amiga
side to replace that software, and is hoping to find a program to pass the data
back and forth between the Amiga and the PC.
There is no such program (that I know of). Is there another way he can do it? I
won't take up space here will the full details, but I'd be happy to e-mail it
to anyone who thinks they can help.

I assume you are aware of a program called PC-Execute which came out of
Germany. It isn't exactly what your reader is looking for (it only
emulates the keyboard, in one direction) but it allowed the passing of
commands to the BB. I think it also had ARexx support. It was a subset of
a larger package which provided full file transfer between the two sides
(unfortunately, I don't remember what it was called.)
Anyway, PC-Execute could be used to control AREAD/AWRITE for a crude for
of data exchange.

Thanks! No, I didn't know about it. Maybe it was part of Golden Gate II? This
guy has a Golden Gate rather than a Bridgeboard, though, so it might not help.
Does anyone else know more about this?

I think Marion is talking about the German programm "ATCopy". It is only
usable with the Commodore Bridgeboards (AREAD/AWRITE).
You can however transfere files between the too computers, but in my
opinion, it is a pain with the Golden Gate (I own one).
The fastest way is to copy the files on a disk and transfere them that
way.

No, I know about ATCOPY — great program, but it's a stand-alone, so it's not
the one Andrew meant, he was talking about one that's included in another
package.

Juergen: Do you have any contact with the developer's of the Golden Gate
(Vortex Computersysteme GmbH)? I have a few ideas for the Golden Gate
bridgeboards that would make them much nicer.

Besides, do you know about the Golden Gate with 50 MHz 486SLC2?

Thanks Juergen for the information about Vortex. Yes, I've heard about the
50 Mhz 486SLC but I don't know if I really want to spend the extra money
for it. I don't use the PC side that much to really justify spending a lot
of money on a bridgeboard, and if I did, I would just buy a seperate 486
system.

Sorry about the delay.
Oops, sorry, I forgot the GoldenGate isn't compatible with the BB. Yes,
these utilities were only for the Commodore hardware. It's too bad the
two boards are compatible with each other because these utilities were
quite useful.
BTW, the name of main application is ATCopy by Peter Vorwerk. The s/w
went commercial and was DM 49.95 (in 92) so I don't know if it is still
available now or how much it is. I have a demo of version 3.2 so if you
can't find it I can upload it.

Thanks, but I've got it. BTW, he no longer sells it commercially. It's
available PD, though he appreciates any donations. Latest version is on CIS, I
believe.
The PCExecute program is PD or shareware, I've found out. I know it's available
on Genie, I'm about to check if it's on CIS.
