I bought PopCLI several years ago and it crashed the machine with such
disgusting regularity that I pulled it from the startup sequence and never ran
it again.
Actually, there was another CLI running (just forgot about it) and
until I started having problems with the B-2K I always had Roy's RLSClock
running.
By the way, I formatted my Rodime RO-652 on the A1K (C-LTD) without
problem. Then did the high level format on the B2K (also without problem).
However, even though I copied about 5 MEg of data to the Rodime without any
problems, as soon as I tried to use Draw Plus I received errors. Ever hear of
anything like that?
I also tried (an am trying right now) to run diskperfa on that same
drive. It runs fine on the ST-225 though the 'blinding speed' won't really
excite anyone (39,718/sec rd and 10,613/sec wrt). Of course compared to DF0:
at 8538/sec and 3467/sec it looks pretty good. However, when trying to run the
same program on DH2: it insists on doing the directory checks on df0:. Have no
idea of what the problem is. Nothing is assigned to df0: and none of the paths
reference df0:. Any ideas?

Diskperfa will try to use df0: if you run it twice (or more) without
first re-booting the Amiga. When it runs, it leaves a directory diskperfAAA
open and thus running it a second time won't let it make that directory so it
goes to df0: and does it for some reason or other.

That all makes sense except that 1) it does run again on the SCSI after
reboot even though the directory is still there and 2) it would run repeatedly
on the ST-225. Mystifying, will try deleting the diskperfAAA directory next

No problem running it if the directory is there AFTER a warm-start as
then the file is a closed file and can be overwritten. The problem seems to
crop up only when you try to run diskperf twice without re-booting.

There really isn't anything left "open". Diskperf creates the
subdirectory in question and then "LOCK"'s it. The programmer failed to
"UNLOCK" it (or delete it) when the program ends. But it really isn't "opened"
in the sense that a file can be opened for reading/writing.

Yes, you are correct…I was using the term 'open' in it's loosest
sense meaning that only diskperf could access it, but diskperf (the one that
created the directory) had terminated, so only a warm/cold-start could 'fix'
the directory so you could delete it.
