I just ordered a PAR 10 minutes ago and am about to get a VCR for it. Initially I plan to use vhs or svhs – is this a good idea? Given that I will be doing vhs/svhs does it mater how good a one I get? Any recomendations? Also I purchased my PAR from HD Electronics in Sunnyvale, any recomendations for another dealer (cheaper) ?? Thanks for the help, joe

Joe, congratulations on ordering a PAR. I have had one a short while and I'm thoroughly amazed how brilliant it is. You _can_ record to any VCR but you'd probably get better results using the Betacam output to betaSP and then making vhs dubs from the betaSP master – at least according to a friend of mine. This might be especially significant when giving tapes to high end clients. This way you take advantage of the excellent bandwidth of the betacam output.

Joe…. I use a Panasonic AG-1970 SVHS. It does a good job. Martin is right. Beta does a good job. More bucks tho. Find a service bureau to process or rent a Beta SP for a day. SW….
