A work around to play cd music I use, is to startup with the 3DS cd then pop in the music cd after startup. The only problem is you can't access the cdrom materials ( unless you copy the selected ones to the hardrive beforehand ). Along those lines… I have a problem with 3DS recognizing the cd-rom drive at startup unless I first ( in DOS ) select drive D: ( the cdrom drive) then display the dir of D: then switch back to my hard drive. I'm using a Dell P60 with the CD-ROM path set in the 3ds.set file. It's a minor problem though. Bill

what version of mscdex are you using? another work around would be to write a batch file to log on and do a Dir of your cd rom drive then start 3ds.

Richard – I'm using mscdex v2.22. I used your idea and added d: dir c: to my batch. Yeh it works fine but it looks tacky. Is there a newer driver? Bill

What kind of CD-ROM is that. I know a few I've used mistrack (sort of, they can't get the directory correctly) on the first pass. If that's it, it's not the MSCDEX.

Hi William, Sorry to butt in here but we have the same problem sometimes. Havn't really looked into the cause but we just leave a disk in the cd drive at boot-up and that irritating problem of manually addressing the drive went away for us. Hope the band aid helps until we find a solution. Good Luck, Randy Jackson ComWorks Communications, Inc.
