IM R/t requires one meg of chip for most applications, 2 megs is a VERY
good idea, but one meg will do pretty well – the only exception is if you
are retargeting to an OpalVision board, in which case IM R/t does want two
megs if you want to use the max res available for the OpalVision.
I know the CIA logic is no challenge; Dales point was that the difficulty
lies in the undocumented operation of the thing.

That is a problem.. I had to do a conversion of a chip that the designer left
the company and if had *any* documentation he took it with.. and it took
several months just to get the *bloody* thing speced out..
I don't have too megs 'cause my Flicker fixer is smack in the way and I was
going to get a 4000 before C= demise( thus getting 2M chip)
Something in my setup (MegaMiget 030) causes the IMRT to crash alot.. (yet
another reasone for 4000) thought maybe it was the 1M chip ram.. will try other
things cause it is anoying..(pretty sure it is hardware)

Exactly. I'm not a chip weanie. But I was full time on the project for
months, proding Xylinks (or however you spell it) emulations of the new
part finding compatibility flaws empirically through contrived tests and
running applications. The damn game programmers seem able to figure out
some way to use and/or depend on every last wierdness in the hardware, but
aren't smart enough to figure out how to take advantage of system routines
and to save orders of magnitude of excecution time through improved
algorithms rather than hardware banging.
