Anyone… I just upgraded my Cirrus 5426 to 2 meg. I was under the (wrong?) impression that I would be able to get 800 x 600 x 16.7 for my renderer. Is this not something to be desired? Is it possible. I'm rendering out to the par and in order to keep with the 752 x 480 I need to use 800 x 600. I'm obviously not doing something right or I don't understand…..I'm anxiously awaiting some corrective information……. Thank you…. Patrick Malone 70461,3646

I'm a true colour fan, so I would say yes, it is desirable. With 2 Mb. of Video Ram I think you should be able to get 16 million colours at 1024 x 768; definitely at 800 x 600. Your message doesn't really state problem. Will 3D Studio not configure for 800 x 600 x 16Mb? Do you need to update your computer configuration to recognize the additional Video RAM ? (I assume what you mean when you say 'upgraded to 2 meg' is that you added 1 meg RAM to your video card). Anyway, I'm sure you'll get some more techie answers soon.. Regards…

Patrick, we have the same Cirrus card, PAR board, and problem. I think Vibrant would have to support that resolution (800x600x24-bit) in the drivers to be able to use it. If you don't see it in the list, then I guess they aren't supporting it. It would sure be great to have 800x600x24-bit for rendering.

Patrick, Yes it is desirable to get true color whenever you can, depending on your needs and application. You tell us you can't do it, but you don't tell us why not. What happens when you try to configure for 16mil colors? Do you get an error? A system crash? What happens? -brian
