#24X AA Win Play error

I've been having problems when trying to use AAWIN with my 24X card. When
I play the animation in a window, I get bits of the animation happening on
other parts of the screen. Can you help me with this? Brent

Just so you'll know you're not alone, I'm having the exact same problem.
So far, noone seems to know how to fix this. BTW, Diamond has a forum on
CIS -GO DIAMOND.

Ditto. I called Tech support and they told me I needed new drivers. They
sent me the so called "new drivers". The files I received were identical to
those that came with board… Needless to say, I trashed the board.
You know, I was very happy with my plain old speedstar Hi-color. But after
this 24X purchase….Diamond will be off my list…unless they can come up
with some decent drivers fast. I can barely run windows anymore. Brent

I don't know what the problem is with Diamond. They released the 24x 6mons
after 3DS r2 came out – of course, it only supported r1. Then they said
the drivers would be released in Nov 92. The new drivers are just now
being released…but get this…they won't post them here since Diamond has
to pay Panacea a royalty [or whatever] for each copy. I keep hearing about
the 'new' drivers – but…I've got the 'new' drivers and they don't seem to
work!
I've said it before, and I'll say it again… IMHO, Diamond cut way too
many corners trying to beat everybody to market – and now…we're all
paying the price. The board is also supposed to fully compliant with VESA
and its extensions – not so. You ought to hear the techno-babble Diamond's
dishing up trying to explain that one! What's also disheartening…Diamond
and Panacea absolutely DO NOT have they're acts together. Maybe
individually they're o.k. – together…it's a fiasco. Want to read
more…GO GRAPHBVEN, IBMHW, GRAPHDEV, or the WINNEW, WINADV forums. You'll
get an earful from a range of users. It seems that across the board <g>,
users are having problems. And the more Diamond and Panacea try to
straighten it out, the bigger the mess!

PMJI, but frankly, something's up. I've received the latest Diamond
OEMed Panacea TurboDLDeluxe drivers for the 24x, and they just don't work.

Absolutely no problems! From relatively clean install to awsome working
speed redraws to full screen hi-res materials editor to (finally) having
some colors in the mapping icon – it has been so long since I've seen them
I forgot which colors were which!
Had the drivers since the weekend, haven't been able to break them yet!!!

Well, I changed my mind. I'm "too busy", but send one anyway. I
seem to be on a long run of on-site installations of all kinds of nasty
hardware, and well on the way to having to get up to 400 systems to the
state of California pushed through a 2-month window. Wow!

I have been using the TurboDLDDeluxe drivers (Version 1.01B) sofar and
anyone mentioning something about faster redraws in 3DS2 waving a couple
diskettes is on a godly level to us. Could you please fax a data sheet
about your drivers or leave an address,phone/fax number I could contact for
more infos?

I'm in the middle of writing a book on disktop video. I have been using
the Diamond cards with some of the video capture boards, and ahve also had
some problems. just what is it that you have that's so great? <g>

Actaully, this thread it moving away from the subject heading (nothing new
here)<g>. We market a driver for 3DS. The new version fixes a few
problems that affect all ADI based drivers, basically slow redraw speed and
some color items appearing in black/white like the mapping icon and move
arrows. We have spent alot of time working with the 3DS to ADI interface
to resolve all of the problems that occur when a AutoCAD interface (ADI) is
"patched" to support a high-powered modeling and rendering package like
3DS. The new techology drivers will ship next week, if the manuals come
back from the printers on time<g>

I just finished a book on Multimedia that covered use of Animator Pro
and 3-D Studio for animation and model creation fairly extensively.
Book is called "Multimedia Madness," and is from Sams Publishing
(which is Prentice Hall Computer Publishing in disguise). The first
edition sold out in 3.5 weeks, and we are doing a rush reprint. If
you want me to add a listing for your stuff in the SHopper's Guide,
email me a brief description of the product(s) with company name and
address, and a phone and fax line for people to request info or place
orders. I'll see if it can still go in.
If sales continue as they have been going, there will be another
reprint soon enough, and I can add the info then. In the meantime,
if you need beta testing along the line, or would like me to test the
drivers with various cards (I usually try to get in a bunch for each
edition), let me know.
Well, I guess one gets what one pays for. The board was cheap. I knew it
had to be for some reason!

Since this thread is already going, I'll just jump in with my comments
about the new Diamond/Panacea TurboDLD Deluxe drivers. They do work.
HOWEVER, I've got to say that I think I had about as much flexibility (if
not more) with the 3D Studio's included VESA drivers as I've had with these
drivers. What a pain!
I hate bashing anyone's product since I know what's involved in creating
programs for commercial distribution but I don't think I could recommend
these drivers to anyone. Especially since the Vibrant drivers are so much
more stable and flexible.
I think it's too bad that Diamond is facing all these driver problems. I
like the card. Having said that though, I think my next card will be an
AT-Vista. A lot more bucks but a LOT less hassles!

Let me jump in. I tried the new Diamond TurboDLDeluxe with a
Speedstar 24X and AutoCAD 11, and regardless of resolution chosen,
AutoCAD hung on the opening text screen, never made it to the menu.
Do you know what the version of TurboDLD is? We've shipped over a thousand
already and I haven't heard of this problem.

It just amazes me that even after nearly 8 months of getting complaints,
Diamond and Panacea are still floundering around for a solution. And,
there you guys are…without any fanfare…with working drivers. Just
amazing, really! I think Diamond picked the wrong partner. You think ACAD
users have problems, Windows users are getting all sorts of GPFs from some
'mainstream' apps. And, if you use your system for Windows, DOS and ACAD
apps, you can imagine the frustration.
Based on the reviews, I _really_ thought the SS24x was hot stuff. And, if
you read Art Liddles "The Next Generation" piece in CADalyst [Feb 93], he
says it's impossible to ignore the low price of the Speedstar 24x" and
"[it's] biggest advantages are its 24-bit color support, low price, and
bundled software. Recommended."
Ya know…there was a long thread here about the credentials of
'reviewers.' Do ya think this guy even plugged in the board and tried it?
Nope! Do ya think he just read the box? Yup! Well…at least he can
read!
