Given that ANY encoding and compression requires operator intervention to get any level of quality, it is certain that you need someone involved to get the MPEG stream dealt with. However, the problems of quality don't seem to be something that is unique to MPEG.

I just ment that I have a horrible feeling that someone is going to use one of the real time boards to produce Video-CD's, under the (misguided) assumption that it doesn't require operator intervention. (And some poor person will view the Video-CD and conclude that MPEG is hopeless (Skips frames, artifacts gallore etc.) when it's not.)
