Does anyone know if there is AMIGA software for a Parallel Tape Streamer?

There doesn't seem to be one. I think that our parallel ports aren't
suited as PC's are for Ethernet adapters, SCSI adapters, tape drives, etc.
I believe that, not lack of desire, is why we don't have drivers for any
of those devices.

What is the difference between a PC and an AMIGA parallel port? My deskjet
works perfectly on both.

Ernst,
Parallel ports have different speeds, some support two-way communication,
some don't etc etc.
As far as printing is concerned, they are all standard enough to allow
data to be sent OUT in alomst the same way which is why _almost_ all
printers work on _most_ parallel ports. BUT, they are not standard enough
to allow data to be read IN in the same way.
On the PC, hand scanners don't operate (normally) through the parallel
port like they do on the Ami, but through an adapter card. This is
obviously more expensive than using the parallel port, if there was a way
to use the PC's parallel port, the scanner manufacturers would do it. So
there are differences…

I'm not an expert in either. I've played with the hardware that drives
our parallel port a little, but I haven't had to do any low-level work
with either the Amiga or PC parallel port. I'm just repeating what I've
heard a few different times…
