WANTED: '40 for A4K/030
15 messages in this thread
I have an A4000/030 and am looking to upgrade to an '040. If you've bought a
WarpEngine or G-Force for your 4000, or are thinking of buying one, I'm sure
that you would love to offset the expense a bit by selling me your Commodore
'040 processor board, with or without CPU. In fact, I would also be interested
in purchasing a plain 68040 processor if you have one lying about. Since I
haven't been on here lately, I have no idea what the going rate is, so perhaps
somebody could post some recent prices to clue me in.
Serious parties should E-Mail to the above address. –Sheldon
Sheldon,
I just asked my dealer to work up a price on a WarpEngine TODAY. I'll
know by the end of this week about the deal. I'll let you know as soon as
I have confirmed my order.
BTW
Good News 🙂 My 040 board is the latest revision replaced along with my
motherboard. So if you have the latest buster you would be all set for
Zorro III boards including a DBK 4090 SCSI-II controller (which I would
also be able to offer for a VERY good price!
Bad News 🙁 Since I would be getting to low end WarpEngine I would be
reusing mt 040 chip. You would need to pick up another one to pop into the
040 board.

Paul,
I've got an A4000/030 that I have been dying to go '040 with. How much
would you be asking for that '040 less cpu card?? Would you happen to
know how much an '040 costs these days??
Thanks,
Mike

Hi, couldn't resist the jump in…. I also have just upgraded to a
WarpEngine, so I have a 4000 processor card 4 sale. It also does not
have a 040 however, I went basement level and got the base warp.
My original is also a 3.1 version, the latest. I don't have any Idea how
expensive an 040/25 is, but i'll bet not too much.
What would be a good offer for this processor card?
Let me know via email

Michael,
Gee I don't really know. I'll call my dealer tomorrow and get a price
on a replacement CPU card, then about half that would seem about right, I
guess. I'll also find out how long it will take to get and install my
WarpEngine.

Paul,
I just called the Software Hut and they said to replace a '040 CPU card
costs $1,200.00 big ones. Keeping in mind that the '040 IS PRESENT. How
much do you think that '040 is worth? I'm thinking it is probably worth
$300.00 bucks max and the logic board $900.00???? Something to think
about.. I really want an '040 but I can't see paying somewhere in the
neigborhood of $450.00 for an '040 less CPU card. Anyway it is just my
opinion and thanks for the quick response. Let me know what you think and
how much want in order to part with it, and what kind of time frame you
are looking at.
Thanks,
Mike

Michael,
$1200 bucks for the cpu card! Yikes the WarpEngine with memory and
SCSI-II is less than that! I was thinking more like $300-350 for the card.
That would put the card with CPU at $600-650.
Depending on what prices Nick gives me (He told me today he would call
me tomorrow and give some options.) I might go for the faster Warp. In
which case the cpu card would come with the 040. I'll let you know after
he calls.

Paul,
[C Consider that card sold for $300.00!!!! If you get the faster warp let me
know and we can work out the details. I just started a new job and my first
real paycheck is due on the 30th of this month. To let you know that I am
serious about this I would be willing to give you a $100.00 deposit. Let me
know what you think and I really hope you get that faster warp card. Thanks
again…
Regards, Mike
Michael,
No deposit needed, I'll hold it for you. Cmail me your address & phone
number and I'll do the same for you.
I (just minutes ago) told my dealer to go ahead and order the
WarpEngine. I would guess it will be here in a week or two. That would
mesh rather well with your new job schedule!

I also have a 040 less v3.1 4000 card for sale. I think $300.00 is fair.
Any interest….
Alan
I might be interested in the board without '040, IF it were cheap enough. What
were you thinking of asking? –Sheldon
Sheldon,
Please see my reply to Michael.

Good to see you back online Sheldon! Your articles in the various
magazines are always fun and informative to read. Should have caught me a
few days ago, I just sold my A3640 to someone back east. I'm now warped ,
so had the A3640 collecting dust.

Well, I've been considering getting a WarpEngine, depending on what the price
differential may be. May I inquire what you sold yours for? –sheldon

Sure, I got a pretty good price for it, $500. I've seen the A3640's
advertised on the Usenet newsgroup comp.sys.amiga.marketplace from
anywhere between $350 to $600.
