#Fargo Dye-Sub
8 messages in this thread
I'm interested in getting a Fargo Premira dye- sublimation printer. I was
wondering if a driver exists that would allow 3D-Studio to use this printer.

Best to use Windows and a secondary image editing program for printing (and
additional postprocessing)
ana /krazy images
I have been using a FARGO Primera since early January and my clients are
pleased with the images it produces. Contact the folks at U-Lead Systems (301)
523-9393 for a software package called ImagePals2. It's inexpensive and works
quite well driving the Primera. Good luck and wait until you see the output!
Wow!!!
Is it expensive to get printing paper( material ) for FARGO? How does it
compare with a color inject printer?
Thanks.

It depends on whether you are doing the photo-realistic printing or the thermal
transfer printing. According to Fargo, the cost of the photo-realistic refill
kit for 25 prints is @$90. For 100 prints I think it is about $280.
For the regular materials 100 sheets of paper is @ $25 and the refill rolls are
about $75. (The paper for the photo-real. stuff I believe is included with the
refill rolls.)

Chris,
Thanks a lot for your information. I am new to this as you can tell. Can I also
print regular documents from this printer using regular papers?

The only drivers available for this printer are for Windows — but then, there
really aren't ANY printer drivers for 3DS — but you really SHOULD print from a
good image processing program, such as PhotoStyler or PhotoShop, anyway. Kodak
should be coming out soon with their Printer definition file for the Kodak
Color Management System (which PhotoStyler uses). You might want to talk to
James Murphy (on the forum here) as I know he sells the Fargo.
