Hey, I finally uploaded the image (better said, I got someone to upload it
using my ID since I am far from the "big" computers) of myself. I explain in
the description that is part of a krazy images' portfolio we are going to edit
very soon. It will be a high quality special format booklet. The idea is to get
our faces and our artwork as a unity and give an "feeling" of our personality
with a little text. It is just a bitmap copy of a page layout still in sketch
time.
My partner and husband (I forgot to tell that I get married two months ago :),
Jesus Diaz, is the responsible for this portfolio. He is doing the photos (in
PhotoCD), but the images are the work of each of us. For this page he got a
very large copy of my photo into Styler, then enlarge in black to the desired
size and blend the image with a pure black. He got this image along with the
3DS TGA to Painter and applied some lighting to make the B&W photo to look like
a duotone, use the airbrush to diffuse my black hair into the dark background
and put additional lights to the 3DS image. He later created some masks in
styler to get the impression of the piece to mix into an imaginary (black)
space (with, IMO, very good results). The result was imported into Illustrator,
in which is now being finalized (the text layout is not definitive).
BTW, I think I look too good in that photo, but that's me! <G>

And a BIG congratulations on your marriage to Jesus! I'm surprised you didn't
tell us, but then I only told my parents that I got married 2 weeks _after_ the
event, tee hee <G>. Andrea and I have been married 8 years this month and I
_still_ think I found my perfect partner. (tears appear in eyes — fade to
black …. 😉 )
Tell me if you like it. The 3D part of it one of our most complicated projects.
Not for the modeling but for the motion. We animated it the hard way, _tons_ of
precise keyframing. I missed IK in that project, since there were a lot of
joints and hierarchical movement.
As for my marriage… well, it is fun 🙂 I didn't comment it because it really
wasn't that special (other than having some extra krazy days 🙂 We have been
living together for six years before getting it to the papers, so I guess it
was more like a (lovely) formality. Who said that there is no love in the
world? (well, sadly, there isn't too much these days 🙁
Fortunately, it seems that there is still people, like us, that get the best
halfs <g>

very heartwarming 🙂 I still believe in marriage, although I did live with a

The image is already available in the Images/Animations library! That's what I
call good "sysoping" 🙂

I think the "Alfie-syndrome" was common in all of western civilization, at
least until the threat of AIDS. I don't really think that has stopped anyone
from sleeping around, or even if they are more careful. I was always happier
with one woman in a long term relationship, but in between I did get a bit wild
<g>.
BTW, I downloaded your image and it is very professional looking – a really
well done layout job. And yes, you do look very pretty in the image <g>. I
think your business will do very well with that kind of attention to
professionalism. You guys obviously know print-media better than most.

The movie doesn't have a great (if any) success in France. The reason? French
people think that the figure of an englishman (even a cockney 🙂 making love
with 10 women is too "unreal" to believe. Go figure! Now this frenchie guys
think that they invented love <g> Of course, french people seem to think that
the rest of the world is the sub-world. Good for them 🙂

Thanks for the comments! The image will look a lot better once in paper, with
the rest of the material. It will not only include only 3D images but a lot of
2D work and special art created specially for it. The catalog, as we have
planned it, will look _really_ good (modesty apart :).
Print is not as dynamic as video but it let you do incredible things. Both
media have different languages, of course. The only thing I miss in most
video/animation works is the poor use of type. Most "flying logos" just make me
sick <g> BTW, making your own promotional material is the best thing you can do
to have fun. It let you make whatever you want and use as much resources as you
can use. Clients are different, since there is always a money and/or lack of
"creative vision" in the client's part <g> Of course, if anyone is interested
in us, just drop me a line 🙂
As for me… well, I still think that the photo was not my best one (just
kidding 😉

I had heard the same thing about "Alfie" not being successful in France because
of their attitude about Englishman. Hey, I loved "The Man who loved Women", the
French version, that is, but I'm not biased. I think Europeans are basically
very similar, although I'm sure you can find national tendencies and attitudes.
I can't believe I'm going to be in Florida and not meet you and Jesus! Que
triste. Will you be in Spain in October perhaps? Andrea and I will be
travelling around on the trains for a month.
Well, if you are ever in Southern California, you guys have a place to stay 🙂
Nope 🙁 I will be in December for Xmas with the family. I didn't believe that I
would miss Siggraph when we started this trip. But it is not the end of the
world either. I really hate to "commute" between the US and Europe though <g>
Which I don't believe is that I am missing the World Cup either! _THIS_ is the
end of world <g> (like yesterday's Spain/Korea game! >-(

I'm trying to catch some of the World Cup games on TV over here, but there's
been too many deadlines lately to stop working for long.
I need a vacation now, but Siggraph will be a small "vacation", although it's
actually a work type of thing. The European "Interail/Eurorail" trip will be
like a second honeymoon, but our first hasn't stopped yet <g>. I think this is
because we haven't had any kids yet <g>. I hope we can get to most of the
Mediterranean countries: Greece, Italy, France and Spain. I especially want to
go to some of the Greek Islands (not sure which yet).

Thanks for the compliment; after a couple of years of reading your messages, I
couldn't resist the opportunity to see what you look like. It's a very nice
layout.
I promised a photo a long time ago, and since I am not going to Siggraph 🙁
after all the planning) I thought it would be a good time to upload something
which I think looks pretty good 🙂 (and giving ourselves some publicity 😉
My "hubby" (spelling?) says: "Thanks for the comments about the layout! I only
have logged a couple of times (when the "boss" tell me to get some messages for
her), but I fell like I know you all, since I read and discuss the threads with

Hey Krazy,
Nice work! Looks very hip and slick with that reserved European understated
sexiness. That 3D bit with the cam and dogs looks like it would be a bear to
animate in view of the fact that the image suggests that there is much more
complexity not shown. No doubt like the lady too. <g> Glad to put a face with
the name.

It is not that the animation was complex, it is a hell! Joints are not easy to
move with the current tools at 3DS. There were a lot of hierarchical movements,
so everything has to move like in a ballet. With me as the coreographer! 🙂
Thanks for the comments about the image, Michael. IMHO, the contrast between my
photo and the hard mechanical pieces, makes the page very special. Lights also
helps. BTW, it is not shown in the image (it is not possible) but there will be
other views of the animation in a black shiny ink against the black matte
background.

I can relate to your digital coreography in the keyframer. I just finished up
two virtual prototypes of some robotic devices. Robots handling silicon wafers
and the like. Some things just drive me bonkers…like trying to scale
segments of heirarchical groups. <G> Grrrrr! But when you get it to work right
there is this tremendous satisfaction. That 3D piece looks like the inside of
a clock. Best wishes with it. I would enjoy seeing it if I ever got the
chance.
Thanks for noting that the print piece has other images in the ink textures,
that adds another layer of information about the image. It sounds really cool.
Is this going into a magazine or catalogue? Maybe a poster? Study of the
fine arts adds so much depth to an artist's work. It is a very special image.

It is part of bicycle gear. Pretty strange, uh? I don't understand how it works
yet, but I know for sure how it moves! 🙂 Is a animated prototype for an
spanish client. I got permission for the upload because the client rep thought
that it was not clear how it works. The animation is another thing, though.

The image is part of the krazy images' promotional catalog. For sure, the print
proofs will make some nice posters 🙂 but we are not planning real posters
(yet) Maybe one or two using the Iris, but just for us.

Funny you say that. One of my first job in my free time when I was on school
was professional modeling. It was only for a couple of months, but it was fun
🙂 It is also funny that after that I started to be behind the camera instead
of in front of it and I became very interested in photography.
