#GPFax Problems

I just set up GPFax, and was preparing to send a fax. When I displayed
it, it appeared, well, HUGE. As stupid as this may sound, and the manual
doesen't seem to cover it, is that just for inspection purposes, or did my
fax go HUGE, and only half of the page.
Another note re GPFax, I am having problems installing the patch. I
got version 2.01 (2.5.92), and tried to add patch 201A2341. When I did,
and tried to open GPFax, it wouldn't open, I tried Emailing Richard Carde
via Internet, but got it back with, basically, "Return To sender, address
unkown." So, any help I can get will be greatly appreciated.

What screen res have you selected for View Mode on the options page ?
Richard Carde no longer works for GP Software. The GP Software internet
node is 'down' at the moment because Commodore have not paid the bill. Why
not fax Greg Perry on +617 366 1402.

In the view window there are options on the side of the screen to select the
scale of viewing. If you don't have those options get the new viewer off
Supra's bbs (I don't think it is here).

Yes, I do have the scale selection tool. Yet even at 1:1 it appears
quite large. The faxes I have sent, thus far, have apparently arrived in
normal size, so I figure the device is just to check on the quality of the
fax, or another bug like the scheduler showing the wrong date, and not
being able to turn the clock back.
By the way, Alex, why is Supra selling older versions of GPFax. The
one I received is about 2 years old, ver. 2.01 (2.5.92), and I can't even
patch it. On top of that the program I received is generic, and I have
your 288 modem. I'm not yelling at you, or Supra, just curious. Granted
it works, but many additions have been added, and I neither have them, nor
can I patch them.
Finally, the LED's are on the fritz again. Thanks, for your help.

oh yea..also when you run the patch remember that the new version has the name
gpfax2341. You need to delete the file gpfax and rename gpfax2341 to gpfax.

two things: your fax might be huge because GPFax is sensitive to type
face and size..use the GPFax/18 typeface for most text to fax
conversions…it was on your disk. Copy the fonts to your Fonts: directory
Did you get a manual? Most of the questions you've asked are covered in
the introduction up thru page 16.
Are you using a supra modem? Which patch did you use, the generic or the
supra specific version?

I received a fax back, and was told it came out okay, so, I guess the
oversize image is just for final inspection before faxing.
I am using Supra's new 288 modem.
I tried using both the generic, and supra patch. The supra patch
didn't take, that is the sys told me it could not be done, so I tried the
generic version. I copied the main file, GPFax, to RAM, then copied the
pch.file to ram, then cd ram:, and the lpatch command. It appeared to
work, except that when I tried to open the patched version, it wouldn't
open no matter how often I clicked on it. So, I guess you could say I am

Lou,
No nothing is wrong with your fax. It will go out as if it was a normal
piece of legal sized paper. This is as you suspected for inspection
purposes. On the right of the fax you will see a number of buttons (1:4,
1:2 etc..). These are ratio buttons and will change the size of your fax.
Reference your problems with the patch. Are you sure you are using the
right patch? Are you sure you are not using the Supra version of GPFax
rather than the generic version? Both dates on the program (for the A
version) are the same.

Hmmmm… Is the program you patched smaller, bigger or the same in size
after the patch as compared to before the patch?

Slight clarification, Trent: The 1:2, 1:4 etc. buttons "will change the
size of the fax," all right, but only for viewing purposes.
