#Audio.device?

Call me stupid (STUPID!), but neither I nor any of my local Amigans have
or have ever heard of AUDIO.DEVICE. Is it part of 3.1 or something? A
friend of mine has a 1200, and he doesn't seem to have it either. What
did I miss?

Never heard of it.
If you can play any sounds with your Amiga, then you have the
audio.device, just not as a file in DEVS:
So what you're saying is that it is another built-in function, in essence a
function of the firmware?
Yep, reckon so.
It's in the ROM.
Thanks for the info, I'll give it a try. Amizing what you can learn from
fellow Amigans :-{)
I'm curious as to why you were wondering about it. Is some program telling you
it can't open it? If so, either some other program is using it and refuses to
give it up, or maybe you're trying to run a program for a newer OS than you
have.
I recently picked up a copy of some programs that specifically call for
AUDIO.DEVICE, namely programs that record and/or playback normal audio CDs
through the Amiga's speakers. But, I have since found out that it only works
reliably if you have a SCSI-2 interface for your CD-ROM drive, and I'm using a
2091 SCSI-1 card. Oh, well, better luck next time, I guess. I guess I need to
upgrade my 2000.
