#A3000 Motherboard Avail?
3 messages in this thread
Hi Out there,
My A3000 appears to be on its last legs. It's had an intermittent
problem, when cold the SCSI wouldn't work and it's HD's wouldn't be recognized
(all 800 MB were unavailable!). At first it just required an hour of warm up
time to get it to work, but now warming up for a day doesn't even work! I hope
that it's the high humidity, and when things dry up a bit, I'll be able to get
it to work.
Assuming, I can't get my A3000 back "up" by spontaneous self-repair,
does anyone know if bare A3000 mother boards are available (where? prices?).
By bare, I mean lacking IC's that are socketed, not a completely naked PC
board ;->.
Because of the present situation with C=, I would rather stick a
temporary band-aid on my present set-up, rather than invest in another model
Amiga which wouldn't be easily compatible with all the memory and SCSI stuff
that I already have connected.
I would appreciate any assistance with this problem.

If you were careful, and used a small-wattage, tiny-tipped soldering iron, you
could try heating up all the solder joints in the area around the SCSI
controller. Sounds like you've got a bad solder joint, and that might fix it.

You might try calling Grapvine… they often have bare motherboards
around.
