I'm assessing image processing programs and I've a question about IM R/t.
Does the program support the GVP Spectrum EGS 28/24 board and, if so, in
what manner (i.e., directly, through the screen mode data base, etc.)?

No – we don't support the EGS/spectrum in any way whatsoever. GVP never
sent us one; and until/unless we have the card, we can't do a thing with
it.

Ben, go buy the Spectrum card!!! You have many customers with EGS cards
that are getting upset. The fact that GVP didn't send you one free is
no excuse for not supporting it, I'm sorry. Get on the band wagen while
you still can. This is important!!!
BTW The EGS developer kit is free.
No, we're not going to buy a spectrum card. Nor any other display card; do
you have _any_ idea how many display cards there are for the Amiga?
There's no way we could afford to purchase all thsoe cards – no way in the
world. You'll have to live with it – it's hard and fast policy.

What do you need to know? I have 14 different video boards (which are all
supported for EMPLANT's MAC emulation and now the 486DX emulation).
If there is something I can do to help you guys, please let me know. We know
the video boards from the hardware level up (we don't use the libraries for
anything except to open the desired video mode).

It's not what we "need to know", exactly – to retarget IM R/t, we need the
board itself, in order to design the code. Then we need to keep the boartd
available in order to _maintain_ the code.
No board, no support.

Ben, I know there are several display cards, but supporting EGS would wipe
out half of them. I don't blame you for not retargeting to something
like the IV-24 but the EGS cards are a must if IM is to survive!
ImageFX-EGS is now shipping and you'll loose your edge soon if you
don't do anything about it.
I'm on your side here, Just trying to help (even if it means an argument)
Aw, it doesn't mean an argument. :^) There's _no_ danger of IM "not
surviving. IM is the most powerful graphics manipulation system available
for the Amiga – No one's even come close to doing anything to make a
competing product, though marketers would have us think otherwise. :^)
FYI, we'll likely have EGS support before too awful long; we're working on
it now – not (obviously) with a GVP board, but something else. If the GVP
board works as a result, that'll be great. If not, there you go.

I realize what IM can do. I use it all the time.
As far as the EGS support…. I'll be waiting and looking forward to it.
I can't imagine any problems with the spectrum unless the libraries are
bypassed.
