Hi All.
I thought I would Re-Post this message to the open forum as I beleive anyone
within reasonable Driving distance to Appleton Wisconsin may be interested.
This is currently in the planning stages and nothing is cut in stone so please
feel free to contribute ideas, critisize, etc. <G>

Steven and I are still in the Planning stages.
At this time we are trying to find out how many people would be willing to
attend a 2 or 3 day class/Seminar held by Steven Elliott.
Steve has a lot of different curriculum as I'm sure you know! <g>
What we're trying to determine is….
First:
How Many people are interested!
Second:
Given the Days Currently Booked are Aug. 29, 30, and 31st.
How many people can show up on these days? The Booking could be Extended but I
gotta know pretty soon!
Third:
What Skill Levels are we Dealing with….in other words, should these be
intermediate or advanced courses….possibly even an Intro course although I'd
rather see Stevens time go towards more Tips and Tricks and Intermediate to
Advanced 3D Studio Training.
Fourth:
Of course we have a minimum amount we need to charge for such training and
we're still trying to work that out. For Example would 6 people like to work
with Steven over a two or three day class (Very Good Instructor to Student
Numbers) and Pay $200 Per Day? Or, would we be able to get More People
together for a lesser Fee?
We also could possibly be Running Seminars on Various 3D Studio associated
Products such as the DPS PAR and Possibly the Matrox MAX Depending upon the
manufacturers of Course.
We'd also have additional Equipment and Software Rep's there depending upon
their availability Etc. ( This will be taking place 30 days _After_ SIGGRAPH
so all the "New" deals will be running! ) Since this is happening in Aug.
we've got to get moving on a couple of mailings and get serious feedback as
soon as possible.
The Location for the Training/Seminar would be at the Excellent Facility in
Appleton Wisconsin known as the "Bourdini Center".
This is the ATC for Autodesks Cad Training and has wonderful Computer Classroom
facilities Networked with a Giant RearProjection Screen Tied in to the
Instructors Computer with the ability to show indivduals screens on the large
Projector also.
The Conference Room also seats Hundreds with another Rear Projector to Computer
Connection Too!
The Facility has got to be one of the Best in the Country!
Now all we need is Serious 3DS'rs that want an accelerated Class Structure and
that see the Value of paying for the Top Facilities as well as a Top
Instructor.
I would appreciate it if you would give me a call for some of the other details
as well as providing some forum feedback that others may wish to contribute to.
I also need to find out if you are able to spread the word in the central
Wisconsin Area as well.
The more people we can confirm that are coming to this, the less it's going to
cost to participate.
This is going to be for people "Interested in 3D Studio and it's Uses Etc. as
well as Power Users.
We Will have a Minimum Entry Fee ( Not everyone will be taking the Classes )
but that will also be offset by a goodies Package I'm still trying to put
together.
I've got to find something(s) that everybody will like/be able to use.
That's About it So Far Except I really need to get the word out on this.
Any Help would be Greatly appreciated! To be successful it's going to have to
be a collaborative activity. <BG>

Gosh sounds like a great idea… seems to me I had a similiar idea, but
never expressed it. You are right about deadline issues. better get that
mailing out REAL SOON….
I suppose you are local to Fox Valley… Is this for End users only? And
you will have to answer the question beginer or advanced real soon or the ship
will never fly… the last thing this needs is advanced userd being stuck into
a beginers class…..

How many 3ds contacts/addresses do you have in your area? I don't expect the
acutal information regarding your contacts but would rather like to know the
exact number. Then If your willing to have me stuff the letters and put on the
stamps I could send them to you for addressing if there's not too many and you
don't want to give me your mailing list…which I Understand.

I certainly don't want to exclude anyone. In Fact I can't think of a Dealer
that I wouldn't want to see attend…as far as I know we've all been on
extreemly good terms.

We wanted it to be After the AEC and SIGGRAPH Shows so all the "Deals" and
Current introductions to "New" technology would have been gotton out of the
Way. Also it was the first 3 days in a row I could book the Room(s). <BG>

One of the things we were thinking about would be to use a Menu approach for
the Classes. For example:
Day 1: Lofting and Modeling Tips and Techniques.
Day 2: Mapping Techniques for Creating Realistic Materials.
Day 3: Keyframing for Quality Motion.
The logic is that anyone could sign up for all three days or just the days that
they wanted.
What do you think?

About the Mailing list.. Well of course that's "our" mailing list and I
would be drawn and fethered or was that quartered… if I let this out of my
college's hands.
I'm not from Millwalkie (sish.. I can't even spell this right) I'm from
Montreal.. and yes we do have a User's group as well.. Its small and I'm not
involved in its organization.
I believe your idea is real good… And If you want to discuss some
possibilities send be an E-mail. I do have plenty of ideas and if you want to
work together I think we can get some interesting things hapenning.
The modular approach is good for local people, people comming in from
out of town will probably take all three. What do you plan on charging for the
single day sessions and for the group of 3 days?
Sounds like the menu is more for advanced users… Sort of like a 3 full
day workshops on specific topics.. Its a good approach. some people cannot get
away for a full 3 days and are perhaps looking for only a small boost (read not
expensive) to get them motivated. If you expect to draw people from out of town
you definately need an advanced bent for the sessions. AND QUALIFY the
participants, the worst thing in the world is a really keen intermediate user
leaving the session feeling that he did not learn anything since the session
was a a too low level. Burns them up.. and really blows the best marketing you
can get (word of mouth).

What have you got in mind????
Regarding pricing on the Steven's Classes it looks like we're doing a menu type
of thing were people pay $200. for the days class. We'll offer 3 different
classes so one could take all 3 or just one of the most critical subjects of
interest to them in particular.
Oh Ya'….I almost forgot!! We're going to provide Certificates through the
ATC for the Classes so those Companies that are concerned about this being an
accredited course won't have to worry. Some companies will pay their employees
to take these type of courses if it increases their production value and like
it even more if it's Certified/Certificate and all! Did what I just say make
sense????
Well you know what I mean! <g>
If we get enough response for and Intro to 3D Studio we'll probably make that
available too…I've got to go over those details with Steven.
I'd stick my neck out on an Intro Course but Steven's the Advanced Instructor
for sure! <g>
