Has anyone purchased and used the "Nursery" program from Scheiber Instruments?
We're in need of some further variety of trees outside of the Yost Group's
package. (Namely Evergreens)
We were hoping that someone had an opinion of the package and could tell us
what the quality of the trees were in comparison to Silicon Garden.

Nursery is a very nice routine. It works in ACAD12 ans 3DS3 and 2.

The trees in Nursery are excellent… and completely different than what SG
puts out. Nursery contains accurate models for many different trees, with as
much detail as you'd want. SG uses fractal methods to create extremely simple
geometry with the minimum number of faces to make the foliage "believable".
Using Nursery with Optimize/Meshres would be a great idea, because you could
use hires trees at render-time but low-res trees as standins in the Ed/Kf.

Thanks Alot! That's exactly what I wanted to know. I'll call them in the
morning and order them.
BTW, you'll see alot of your SG trees on the series we're working on. We did a
number of 30 level composites and the producers were blown away. The composites
ended up giving us hundreds of trees and turned out great.

Nursery's trees work very well – except evergreens. (naturally). A very high
level of complexity is possible, obviously at a cost. (meshes can get very
LARGE!). If you do get the package, its MUCH faster creating the mesh at the
command line, and then importing the .3ds.

First I'll Give Ya' the "Official" Response regarding the difference between
Silicon Garden Disk #5 and Imagine Nursery.
Silicon Garden produces fractal based plant structures which can be used for
shrubs, bushes, and trees in architectural renderings. In cases where lifelike
trees are needed then NURSERY can be used to produce trees for a better
rendering. Actually you really should buy both because they compliment each
other.

Ok here goes!! Remember I'm no "Tree" Expert but off the top I've used the
Imagine Nursery for, Balsam Fir and Ponderosa Pine, I'm not sure if Sycamore
qualifies for what your doing but they've got that too. Also Bigtooth Aspen and
Quaking Aspen for a little of that non-evergreen yellow color mix you find in
the Rockies during Fall.
There are 58 Tree types that you can draw on with a LOT of control over Detail
level, height, month of year. For example you can have Winter Foliage, Winter
(less leaves), Winter, Spring, Summer, Full summer (densest foliage), Summer
Fall, Full Fall Foliage & color… actually 12 different settings just for this
alone.
