I am attempting to render a scene using 6 axpbox objects with vapor.axp assigned to each that represent trails from two jet planes that approach the camera, roll out, and disappear off camera. The vapor.axp is set to dissipate about 180 frames after the roll out. Everything renders fine until the axpbox objects are out of the camera view, the renderer locks up while "rendering in progress" is displayed on the second field render. When I reboot, reset, and restart, the system locks up on the second frame, second field each time. The computer is a P90/128 MB RAM PCI rendering to PAR. Do I have another out of date IPAS? -Paul G

Hi Paul, << Everything renders fine until the axpbox objects are out of the camera view, the renderer locks up while "rendering in progress" is displayed on the second field render. >> hm.. I've had several projects that had vapor axpboxes that came into and out of the camera view with no problems. Have you tried a test with just one of the vapor boxes enabled and the others having their vapor process turned off to see if the behavior changes?

Jonas, << Have you tried a test with just one of the vapor boxes enabled and the others having their vapor process turned off to see if the behavior changes? >> I'll try that. I also suspect a hardware problem, possibly some failing memory. I've called in a tech about it and should know Friday. I'll post what I find. Thanks… Paul G

Are you using vapor 1.0 or 1.1h? – G

Gary, I'm using 1.1 (don't know about the "h"). I've been unable to determine if any hardware problems exist on my primary P90; however, the segment I needed to render went OK on a 486DX66. Go figure… -Paul G
