#NURBS Modeler

Dean,
I've e-mailed Peter Klose also with no reply. Is there a full-blown version of
his NURBS modeler? Is his the only one around, or are there other NURBS
modelers out there? If you get any info please let me know!

Here in France and in now America, you can purchase the AMAPI modeller
which includes nurbs and heaps of other modelling tools(booleans
between NURBS, accurate chamfers and filets, extrusions etc). It runs
on UNIX, Mac, PowerMac, Window, DOS and was used to demonstrate the
opening of the PowerMac distribution in Japan so it's no slouch. It
costs about $400 and it outputs to many different formats,
unfortunately DXF is the only one 3DS can read. A direct AMAPI->3DS
IPAS is "possibly" in the works.
It's a great modeller, really intuitive, and powerful.
New Flash! The company that produces the modeller is going to release
an IPAS that converts it's native files directly to 3DS format. This
IPAS should be ready in a few months. YIPPPPEEE!

That sounds fantastic – I assume it is going to be available in the
US. Where is the current modeler available in the US? Who sells it?

The next version of AMAPI i.e. 2.5 is going to be available in a few
months, when it comes out I'll let you all know when and who in
America is distributing it.

Is this the software from CIRAD in Paris ?
Thier AMAP plant generation and biological interaction simulator stuff
is incredible, been longing for a PC version for years. TDI (now
Wavefront) and Softimage have offered some of the plant growth code
as an SGI "plug-in" for a while.

The name of the company is Yonowat. I don't know if their associated
with CIRAD.

Sorry, but you've got me stumped again <g> Though I'm very interested
in finding out more. Organic biological modelling and animation is my
main interest. Could you give me some more information on this
program and the company?

Salut Jose, je connais tres bien 3DS et plusieurs d'autres logiciels de dessin.
Qu'est-ce que tu cherches exactement? Tu fais quoi avec 3DS?
