#Fastest Video Card ?
12 messages in this thread
Ermm.. Anyone care to hazard a guess on which video card has the fastest
redraw rate in 3ds, And does any one know how much faster a P100 is against a
DX4 100 in 3d studio, I want to upgrade but I'm unsure which to go for?
Any comments would help
Thanx Matt 🙂
Very good question Greg,
I asked the same kind of question on a local bbs about a week ago,
just wondering if a Pentium 90 was faster than a DX4 100 mhz,
the answer is a YES,
Pentium 90 blows away a DX4 100 mhz, hands down,
and the Pentium thinks a lot better too.
This is what they told me.
Any other comments are welcome!

<<just wondering if a Pentium 90 was faster than a DX4 100 mhz,>>
Interesting note: A Pentium 75 on an Aladin motherboard equiped with the Triton
chipset is close to the performance of a Pentium 90 using the older
motherboards.

I'm no expert on video cards, but I have switched between a handful of cards
and hands down, the Number9 GXE64Pro has been stupendous. With the ATI Mach32,
dragging my keyframer slider was a bear as it skip frames to keep up with my
mouse drag, but with the Number9, my animation flies by seamlessly. It makes
for a much more accurate feeling as to whether your motion path is
satisfactory. That is all.

I have been recommended the Diamond Stealth 64 with 4 megs Vram for my new
machine, Does every one else agree?
Matt
One of fram renderers is using the 4meg VRAM Stealth and we love it.
Its on a P90 and kicks. Its also a breeze to install. In terms of
installability/bugs/docs/support I found it the best on the market and
we have tried ALOT of cards! (The WORST of which was the ATI MACH 64
blahhhhh!)

where did you get your Stealth with 4 meg of VRAM? I can't find a dealer who
has the 4 meg version available. Also how much, if you don't mind? I'm
putting it on a Gateway P5-120 to run 3DS r4. Do you use Liquid Speed on
yours? Thanks.
I ordered it through a dealer friend of mine. They ARE hard to get. Everybody
wants them. I think I paid upwards of 375 or so. Yes on the liquid speed. Once
you get used to it you never go back!
I recently got a Stealth-64 Video Vram (w/4M). So far so good, but what drivers
are you using? The only one I can use is the default- Vibrant vga-w/256color.
The board has the new S3 -968 chip and a 220 MHz TI DAC. I've tried all the
Diamond and S3 chip menu selections and just got errors. Any suggestions? Does
Vibrant have a BBS that I can download updates from?
Thanks Tim
Dave,
>> the Number9 GXE64Pro has been stupendous
I agree! After looking at just about everything, we ended up with 4 of these
cards.

The Number 9 GXE Pro 64 is the Equivalent as The Diamond Stealth as for as the
hardware compatabilty list in NT 3.5 the both do the same resolutions. They
both use the S928 chip as well.
