#Printing to plotters

How's it been?
I am plunking down trees all over everything I do now thanks to you.
Question:
When printing to plotters using CorelDraw 4 (elevations and
such), do I use the same CMS i use for raster files? how can i stay
vector and execise control over what that sucker spits out? My SB
has HP 650c, Encad, and Novajet 3. The SB has a postscript HP650c
print software that opens in Corel at print time he can make
adjustments w/ but I'd like to do that before he gives me that
"another architect!-look".
Does the Kodak CMS have a Precision transform routine that applies to
this kind of routine printing? I Know there are PT's for every major device out
there!!
The initial plot tests were so far off that it was unuseable in any stretch I
tried to put my (or my client's) mind thru!!
Sports:
Entered my U-10 girls in a Sidekicks 4 on 4 this weekend and we did
well. I almost throttled a ref
punched a coach and caused one of my players "heat stroke" but all in all it
was very much fun!! (kidding about all but the ref thingie!!!<G>You MAY
understand!! results (2-1 losing to the tournament winner)
The Sidekicks NISL super forward Tatu was signing posters and
shirts and I was standing watching him wondering what made him so
special. He looks like everyone else (except Quads like TREE
TRUNKS!)! Is it really his "Made in Brazil" logo stamped on his
butt?? I asked a Brazillian skills coach that we use what teaching
techniques are used for kids in Brazil. He looked at me w/ a half
smile and said "We don't have
skills teaching! our kids are born knowing it!!!!" HEY, what is this?

I am not a Corel fan although I use it alot for file conversions and
auto-tracing. I can't for the life of me figure out how to print to
the 650c for a size larger than 30"x30" out of Corel. If you got
pointers on that one let me know. I have given up for the time being
with precision transforms as they have invariably given me precisely
what I don't want! I am the wrong guy to ask about getting printed
output to match what is displayed on one's monitor. I have failed
you, Gary, and I am openly weeping my brother.

Robert,
There is a great program called IMAGE ALCHEMY that will work with the
HP 650 and the NOVAJET series of printers. It is a DOS application
and I don't think is is very expensive and it supports large format
printers (36" x 48 etc.). I don't have a number, but I would give
them a call. Good luck!
P.S. Corel Draw 5.0 was supposed to support larger sizes but I have
not seen any way to do it except for scaleable postscript output.
Mike, We've been able to plot out of Corel at 30×40, without using
the postscript on our 650c by setting our page size to 15 x 20 and
then plotting at 200%. We're using the HPGL/2 driver ver. 1.3 and
Corel 5.
We did have problems however when we started adding large bitmap images to our
Corel layouts. We then tried plotting the using the postscript drivers (as you
know, we have the postscript simms in our 650), but even after some trial and
much error, could not get a satisfactory color match.
Will IMAGE ALCHEMY alow plotting from Corel (I need the vector text), or only
bitmap images?

Its good to see you here on the forum! Image Alchemy is a bitmap
based program, no anti-alaising with postscript:(. The program I
talked to you about this morning called RIPWARE for windows, and it
supports EPS exported from Corel and other sources and also bitmap
images. I have an 8 meg EPS from Corel and it ripped out to 40 megs
for a 36 x 48 print, four hours later wala a real cool looking print
form the NovaJet III. I will bring some samples to our next User
Group Meeting. See Ya real soon.
