Mark, Welcome to the show! Are you here to help support AA Studio? Perhaps we should get a plaque for your desk "The Flak stops here" <g>. Kevin Krell – Computer Support Associates

Hi Mar. I just got the Animator Studio demo cd and was pleased to see you're still using my Screaming Mouse animation in your demos! I animated that mouse about 7 or 8 years ago on an Amiga and left it here on CompuServe in the Amiga forum. From what I've heard it's been floating around Europe and now it's in Animator Studio. I get a BIG kick every time I see it! After seeing the demo, I'm not sure if Animator Studio is something I'd use on a regular basis, but I'm glad I had a chance to see it in action.

I also saw the screaming mouse at a Comdex – there was live video of a guy against a blue curtain holding out his hand. On the computer monitor the mouse would take one look (or was it 2?!) at him and zoom off screen. Nice to know who made that.

Mark, Glad to see you here in the forum! Can you give me a status update on the situation w/ Adobe? Specifically, the font and plug-in support… Thanks! -Glen

Glen, Animator Studio supports Photoshop compatible plugins as filter inks. What that means is that you can load Aldus Gallery Effects, or Kai's Power Tools in and paint with them. You can't load in PhotoShop's own filters however. (thank you Adobe. PhotoShop filters actually check to see if you're running PhotoShop). Fonts, i suspect not. We only support Truetype fonts. At one time we hoped to get Postscript Type 1 through Adobe Type Manager, but that one got away from us. More to come, –marK

Mark, Thanks for the quick reply… I understand the issue with fonts, but the Photoshop filters are compatible with other programs such as Fractal Painter… they _are_ just filters, is this more of a licensing compatibility? -Glen

" but the Photoshop filters are compatible with other programs such as Fractal Painter" I hadn't realized that was the case. I believe the programmers at Autodesk are under the impression that there is code in Adobe filters that prevents them from running under non-Adobe products like AAStudio. Mark Gerhard (thanks Mark!) will probably be the best person to help track this down. I'll also forward this to QA.

Nik, Sadly, I was terribly wrong. At least with compatibility with Painter 3.0… I SWEAR I had (with Painter 2.0) switched my plug-in directory and used Photoshop filters inside Painter. I (of course) hadn't tried it since I received my upgrades. This could have worked before I got the Photoshop 3.0 upgrade, I think. Again, I'm real sorry for leading anyone down this path – I just checked it out with Painter 3 and Photoshop 3 and they don't work. Oops! -Glen

" I just checked it out with Painter 3 and Photoshop 3 and they don't work." Whew! Thanks for letting us know. At least we have someone to blame if anyone thinks that Painter will read Adobe filters!!! <g> Nik
