A-studio on a notebook
3 messages in this thread
I am shopping for a notebook on which I would like to run Animator
Studio and 3DS in order to develop my knowledge of these products
while on the road. Any suggestions on system requirements would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks John Sisti

Hello again, here are a couple of ideas:
Get a minimum of 16MB RAM Check out the new color displays which do a few
thousand colors vs. the usually 256. Get a CD-ROM drive (maybe check the new
Sony CD-ROM diskman). Get a normal mouse to plug in or you'll go nuts with the
track balls and mini pointers. Get a hard drive with 500 MB or more of storage.
Make sure you know the exact make and model of graphics card in the unit so you
can verify that there are 3DS drivers for it. Get a modem in it so you can
check into this forum and let us know where the hell you are. <G> I've had luck
with the Texas Instruments (very fragile case, however) and the Toshibas but I
prefer the NEC. Worth a look would be the new DEC and IBM.

Notebook Lovers,
Here at Autodesk a couple of us have NEC Versa M with 32K/64K colors.
Works great at 32K colors (need a fix for the 64K mode).
Get a little table to go with it and you'll be hooked! It's great.
Get the CD ROM and at least 16 Megs (more is better)
I recommend 800 Meg HD.
