#Animator Studio upgrade
21 messages in this thread
Have upgrade notices for Animator Studio gone out to registered users of
Animator Pro? I've got registered copies both at home and at work and haven't
heard anything at all so far.

Chris,
Animator Studio is out, so regardless of whether Autodesk got a mailing
out to you – go see your dealer if you want to upgrade!

Kevin: Thanks! I thought that it was out but I haven't heard anything
officially. I'll give my dealer a call and at least upgrade my copy at home.
(At work we are suffering under an "ADP Procurement freeze" that is making life
unnecessarily difficult for those of us trying to get actual work done.)

We're looking into this. We *thought*so!
FWIW – I got the demo CD ROM, but haven't ever got any update notices.

This stil hasn't been worked out. Mark Gerhard (Product Manager for AAStudio)
is up here too and is working on this.
Sorry for the delay, but in the meantime you might wish to call your dealer
directly and get the info. (You can call 800/879-4223 if you need to track
down your dealer's phone number.)

Nik, I too have received a demo disk, but not a word on upgrading. I, too, am
a registered owner of Animator Pro.

This is a little better than I am – I've registered my copy of AAPro, but have
not received any info on AAStudio, not even a demo diskette! We've got a
problem that *I* want to see straightened out!
At this point we don't have any more info as to what's happened with your
registration question, but are working on it.
Thanks for your patience.

Nik,
I haven't got upgrade information (that I recognized well enough to keep
anyhow) from ANI to AS, but I just figured it was SOP and you really didn't
want to know who I was any how, and I just to go back to my somewhat
indifferent dealer and pay when I needed the upgrade.

I think Autodesk is very concerned about the lack of registration data we have
from owners of our multimedia products. Your comments are touching on issues
that have been discussed in several meetings. I understand the latest version
of 3DS addresses this issue.
Nik,
I've been waiting for the upgrade for about a month (!) after sending the check
to my dealer. They informed me
that I was not the only customer who has this problem, and that they have not
received the material from Autodesk.
I found this somewhat disturbing, since I've already seen the program in
stores.
Since I'm anxious to start using the program, if there is anything you could do
to solve this problem, I would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance for your help,
-Marc

I will check into this – there are some legitimate reasons why some dealers
might not have received AAStudio info, but I think that in general the dealers
all should have this info by now.
Can you tell me (private email if you like) your dealer's company name and
phone number? We have sales reps here at Autodesk that I can bug and get the
dealer updated.
Thanks.

Thanks for your quick response to my situation. It's reassuring to know that
Autodesk is attempting to help it's customers.
I'll take your advice and send you the info you asked for by private email.

Marc – got your message. I'll respond later when I get to work and have had a
chance to check your serial number for you.
Marc,
Animator Studio is indeed shipping. Perhaps your dealer is on credit
hold, waited to palce your order along with others, or is affected by
Autodesk's recent move of their shipping facility (from Petaluma to Milpitas).
We normally receive product in approx. 3 days (since we're in California with
Autodesk), but have been experiencing delays (latest upgrade took approx. 18
days).

Nik: I've got two copies registered – one at home and one at work – and I
haven't seen an upgrade notice on either so far.

This or next week we're supposed to get a database dump of all the registered
users. I'll look for you!
Nik: Thanks! I should have two copies, one at work and one at home. Same for 3D
Studio.

Chris – still no report, but I just got off the phone with the gentleman who is
generating the reports – he's doing it this second! Thanks for your patience.
Nik: Ok, let me know what you find out.
