Flic play under NT?
7 messages in this thread
Can anyone offer any suggestions for playing flics under Windows NT.
Apparently, the AAWINPLA does not perform properly. Any help with suggestions
or work arounds will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much.

Sorry, no workaround comes to mind. The library is comiled in 16 bits, which is
the reason for the poor performance. Have you tried the player that ships with
Animator Studio?

Nope. I just received a copy and haven't had time to install it yet. Has this
player been compiled at 32 bits? You must have some suspicion about this. Can
you share your reasoning? As soon as I try it out in with NT I will let you
know how it played.

Sure. The reason I am not sure, is that I am not sure. I am not the primary
support person for Animator Studio.
Nik Grant can answer this question for us. Nik?

Just a guess, but since the player runs in straight Windows 3.1(no Win32s) then
it probably wasn't optimized on a 32-bit OS. It runs great in NT, just no
special optimizations for it.

Sorry, I don't have NT, but Jeremy's response would make me think it does. I
would not be sure, since it was not written to run (or tested) under NT. There
are some folks who have been able to get AAStudio to run under NT, and then
there are those who can't. It's a question of the drivers/DLLs, we use older
ones that, if they resplace the NT drivers, would allow Animator to run.
Of course, then there would be problems with other NT applications.
Well, it sure sounds like the roar of some white water down the river. It must
be the NT rapids. <g>
Thanks for all the thoughts. Jeremy, Brian, and Nik. I have just placed my
order for NT.
