Amiga Demo Disk?
6 messages in this thread
I am president of the Ohio Valley Amiga Users Group (OVAUG) and we are
looking to put together a demo disk that shows off the machine and also
gets attention for the club, to play in retail outlets. Are there any good
demo disks (self-playing) out there? We have plenty of EuroDemos, but want
something along th lines of a marketing tool. Anything?
I sure do miss the BADGE killer demo contest. I wish that group was still
in existance–it truly was unique.
I would love it if Commodore would create an updated AGA Bouncing Ball
demo!

Mark,
The updated bouncing BOING! ball was shown on the 3DO multimedia console
system at CES.
A globe with earth continents mapped onto it, bouncing around in three
dimensions in a rotating room with texture-mapped walls. The ball deformed
as it hit the floor/walls. And it was lit–in real time–by moving light
sources. I heard it was mind-bogglingly cool.
(I think Schwab did it.)
3DO is the new CDTV-live CD-ROM system created by a consortium funded by
MCA/Warner, Panasonic/Matsushita, AT&T, and Electronic Arts. It looks to
have the most chance of success of all these things.
Mark,
I wasn't crazy about the BADGE Killer Demo Contest. The reason is that
the title says it all — DEMO. Almost everything that was entered were
animations, display hacks, etc. I would have been a whole lot more
impressed if it were the BADGE Killer Application Contest — high quality
_useful_ stuff.

Yes and how about the original EA POLYGONS demo. I've never seen anything
near as neat.

I agree. I used to belong to FAUG when they had the BADGE contest – fun
stuff. Maybe we should get some of the Bit.movie winners on disk. I'm
probably going to use a bunch of the best pics I can find.
