Sometimes I feel I'm working on a chopper that needs 4 hrs of
tinkering for 1 hrs of flying. The grapevine has spoken some rumors
about NT NoT being the be-all and end-all of network platforms. Just
calculate the time it took you to know you machine inside out, and
start all over again because you are running a shaky network
platform…. Pretty risky.
Just ask your friends who bought into Lightwave NT how they like
crashing every 15 minutes.
This is just not true.
NT is the most stable network platform of any OS.
we have sold hundreds of NT machine servers with no problems.
the biggest problem is peoploe buy CHEAP hardware like IDE cdrom,
no name scsi cards and network cards that have porly writtem drivers.
also, USEr ignorance is very common
they are the culprits for crashing NOT NT.
companies Like Pacific Bell, AT&T Disney Allied Signal all run NT with no
trouble.
the key to running any advanced OS is quality components
Adaptec\ Tyan for PCI scsi,
NEC\ Toshiba scsi cd-roms
ASUS\ SUperMicro\ AMi motherboards
Stealth 64\ ATI video
COnner\ Seagate\ Quantum HD's
3com\Cogent\Intel Networking cards
NT is perfect at networking and for 3ds
please do not make general statements without knowing al the facts,
as some people may falsely believe them
we specialize in high end HArdware and 32 bit OS's like NT and WIn95
OS2 etc, so we have a very good idea what equipment works and how the OS works
as well.
Anyone reading out there, NT is the most stable OS out there, and every
publication having to do with PC's and software has said so many times.
It also has won best OS in 6 different pc Mags over the last year.

Actually Dual pentium boards work GREAT in NT .
we have sold over 100 in the last year, without any problems.
again it all comes down to the qualtiy of the motherboard.
and components
the ASUS and AMI dual pentium boards we sell are certified by INTEL
and MICROSOFT for SMP spec 1.1, FOR NT.
all other boards we have tested simply do not Work reliably in
SMP in NT
this is simpky a fact, as we sell many machines to major Universities, Gov't,
and fortune 500 companies with any hassles.

Hello,
I had also a good experience over the last two years with Windows NT on several
hardware. I agree that quality components as Adaptec SCSI and so on are a
good choice in avoiding problems.
There is a lot of misinformation here and in several other Compuserve forum
about this very stable operating system.

I have to dido your comments on NT and the dual platform. I just bought an
antiqueted (SP) dualP100 and have never been happier with a OS system. How can
anyone even think of complaining about NT. Just try to survive thru UNIX or
OS2. You want to see hangups, run one of those systems with your 3DS.
