Hi. I own 3d Studio Release 4, Yost group IPAS #2, and many other IPAS from Digimation. I love them all. And I recently purchased Animator Studio. I read the documentation. It's well written, and presents interesting turtorials. But after I use the program a couple of times, I feel that Animator Studio is great, and is capable of doing a lot more of stunning tricks than what's included on the manual. I read the 3D STudio manual, and they are good and very detailed. I feel that the Animator STudio manual somewhat fall short. I'm just wondering is there some kind of third party book on Animator Studio that's going to come out soon?

The Yost Group wasn't involved in AAS development. You should direct your inquiry to the Autodesk staff. Mark Gerhard is the product manager. I haven't heard anything about 3rd party books, yet. – Dave

Hi Aaron, The Yost Group had nothing to do with the development of Animator Studio, so we don't really know anything about possible third-party books. Maybe someone on the AniStud team has an answer for you on this. – Jack

Thanks for the information. I was wondering that since Yost Group is so cool, they couldn't possiblly put out a book like that.

We're busy working on the Classics Illustrated comic-book edition of the 3DS tutorials. – J

Wow…. I can not wait for this …CI comic-book edition for learining 3DS. My 4 year old is now watching all the animation tapes and laser discs we can find …. he is a great judge of what draws attention. With CI we should both make rapid progress in many ways <G>! (Will these be spill protected … for my sake?) I do think you are one to a great idea here, especially if you include (in the index) settings for complicated things. jhg

I don't think the CI-generator software we've designed can output an index. (It does have a very nice spill-checker, though.) – J

Are you serious, or it's just a joke? All I can say is, WOW! You guys ROCK!

This time, it's a joke. (But you never now.) – J

Hey, I never knew Yost Group is allowed to joke.

Great, so you guys are serious about making that Comic 3ds turtorial. That should be very interesting. So please inform me whenever it's going to abaiable. Cool. What do you guys plan to call it? "3DS For Dummy"?

Jack, Probably should be "Gullible's Travails". But I like it. Good response. Kevin Krell – Computer Support Associates

Thanks man. I think I will wait for the books to come out than.

Aaron, Thanks for your feedback. We thought we'd try out something a little different with Animator Studio. We wanted to give you the documentation online, so that we could include animations and sound examples, and provide something that was at your fingertips. Have you used the online reference manual? It provides a ton of information. There are quick how to's, or excruciating detail. Your choice. If you want a B&W printout of the online reference, just send me your address and we'll send you one free. (Assuming you've registered your software.) There are several books under development at this time, due out in the fall.

Hi Mark, As a first version owner of Animator, Animator Pro and Animator Studio let me say I am pleased with the development of the product. I expect the learning curve for AAS to be 1/2-1/3 that of Animator due to the online help system for new users (ie to do the same effects). I would like to see the transition effects between animations at the same level of the prior products. I guess I could understand an arguement that that is being defaulted to "3rd party" digital editors but I would argue. I too would like to have aprinted copy, I have registered this one also. Thanks

Thank you very, very much for your concern. You are one of the few good men out there. Since I have been working mostly in 3D Studio and bunch of IPAS routines, I don't have much time for Animator Studio. So I don't need the printout for the online reference that bad. And yes, I believe I just sent out the registration card. So I would probably wait till fall for the third party books to come out then. Again, thanks very much.
