PMJI, Nik I have a p90 with the GXE64 PRO w/ 4megs of VRAM and find that the system takes too long to go from the Material Ed. to any module. It is not that big of a deal, but I find it kind of strange that my Mach32 on my 486 is faster when flipping through the modules. I experience the same problem when shelling from AutoCAD to DOS or just a flipping the screen (F1). Am I the only #9GXE64 user experiencing these problems or is my card just not configured properly? Thanx in Advance….pHred

Clemente, >> I have a p90 with the GXE64 PRO w/ 4megs of VRAM and find that the system takes too long to go from the Material Ed. to any module. I have the exact same card, and also on a P90, and am not noticing any delays at all. (Well…maybe 1 or 2 seconds between modules.) John

John, will there be an affect in performance if my main display is setup for 256 colours while my material editor is configured for 65,000 or 16.7m colours? Does the card take the extra time to flip between resolutions and number of colours? Thanx, pHred

Phred, >> Does the card take the extra time to flip between resolutions and number of colours? Not on mine. I usually run both my renderer and materials editor at 16.7M colors. John

Thanx John, I'll give it a shot. At least I no longer own an ATI Mach 64. pHred

I seem too be getting some what of the same problem with the #9GXE64PRO. If I use any 256 mode after rendering all I get is a black screen. One thing that cool is it doesn't lock up so I can at least save if needed. Mike White [SDP]

<<<We have 7 p90's with #9GXE64PRO cards running 3dsr4 and have never had this problem. If you tell me more specifically what is going on, perhaps I could help.>>> It seems to work in every other resolution fine but 256 color mode. I have an EISA VLB 66dx with 64 megs of ram. It seem to have trouble refreshing after rendering. It seems to work fine until rendering. If I press space bar to flip screen to see rendering it's fine. If I press the space bar to go back I have a black screen. One thing is I know 3ds didn't lock so if I made changes too my scene I can save it. I've also have had a strange problem of 3ds quitting, but it menu is still in vram. I can type 3dshell and reload 3ds. The one bummer is that if any changes were made there lost. Mike

Hello. Watch for the GXE64's with the Trio chip set. Get the 864 chipset if possible. The Trio set has given us a lot of problems (the first 10 we purchased were all D.O.A.; the second ten had 5 that caused "snow" on the screen. I guess #9 started shipping the Trios because they were less expensive, but I find they are slower and problematic. But the "pure" GXE64, the one with the 864 chipset, has never given us any trouble. Neither has the GXE64PRO or the Imagine 128…
