#Microstation MAC to 3ds?
2 messages in this thread
All
I have a possible client who is Mac based Microstation cad, they have
the latest ver which does everything short of posting nasty MAC messages to
the Adesk forum (G)!! They swear that they interviewed a student lately who has
some AMAZING results from Microstation rendering (I doubt it)
What I need to know is whether or not there is a conversion utility to
give me a usable and reliable mesh
that can be imported into the 3d editor from Mac based Microstation!
I've already told him "hey no prob"! <gulp!>
The problem I've noticed w/ some offices w/ Microsta. is that the team
wants to model everything down to the Weyerhauser logo in the conference
room!!!<G> The resulting file is large enough to be converted into the real
thing, should that kind of conversion utility become available from someone
such as Mark Meier!<G>
Any help is GREATLY appreciated! Gary Angle
Gary,
I recently taught a 3DS class at a school that had several PC Microstation
systems. I found that they produced better than usual DXF files. There was
some normal flipping needed, but nice looking models. They didn't have the Mac
version and after I switched everyone to 3DS modelling I stopped experimenting
with conversions, but all in all it wasn't too bad <G>
