#3D Studio Version 2.0
7 messages in this thread
Hello!
I have an opportunity to buy (new) a copy of 3D Studio Version 2.0 for less
than $200.
My questions are:
Is this a good deal?
Would it be a cost effective tool for learning 3D Studio?
What features are missing in 2.0 that appeared in later versions? Does it
matter at the price?
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Buy the copy now and when you are ready you can upgrade to the newest version
for a very good price, but check the serial number with adesk before you buy it
to make sure everything is ok….Legal Stuff you know….
Let me know

Thanks for replying! The 3DS offer is from Surplus Software… I have bought
from them before with no problems… there stock is apparently all shrink
wrapped remainders. No way for me to check the serial number.

John,
Non-upgradable packages from Autodesk usually say so on the OUTSIDE of the
shrink wrap. If this is a non-upgradable package, you should be able to tell
before you open the package. (Unless, someone has "re-shrunk" the shrinkwrap).
Once opened, you might want to double check the serial number with Autodesk
Customer Service, just in case…..

Thanks… I may give it a shot!

Awesome program at any price. Be aware that it is likely non-upgradeable.
Everything you learn in R2 will be applicable to R3 and R4, so it is a good
place to start. The renderer and IPAS plug-ins are dramatically improved in
later releases.

Thanks… I thought as much.
