Kind of a strange place to post a new father message but HEY! I'm a 3ds'r and
now I'm a dad too! My first.
It's a boy, Jacob D. Graber – 7 lbs 9 oz
Born June 20th at 7:49 p.m.

a big congratulations, dad! You should start Jacob on the 3ds tutorials in a
week or so – give him a chance to recover from the birth first <g>.

Congrats! Hope everything is fine with MOM and the new baby. Getting much
sleep? <g>
Now you'll have to get real coordinated and learn to animate with the mouse in
one hand (and alternately going to the keyboard for curser constraints, etc)
and the kid in the other hand. <BG>

Congrats S.G. — but this is just the beginning..
Here's what you can look forward to: My oldest (of 4) had a social studies
project required on ancient Greece or Rome this year. I showed her how to use
3ds to create an animation demonstrating the basic construction techniques of
the Greeks. She created the animation, ending with a perfect crossfade to a
scanned photograph of the Parthenon today. Using a simple VGA to TV box (VGA
Elite) we put the 3 minute animation (plus audio she recorded onto a cassette
tape) onto VHS. A total of maybe 6 hours of our time together, but I was
astonished with the impact! Her teachers weren't just impressed — they were
running scared. In other words, "If this is what they can do at home, what are
we doing with monochrome Apple 2E's in the classroom?"
My advice ( and after 12 years and 4 kids I think I'm entitled to give it…) :
Teach your kids everything you know, every chance you get. All of us are
better off for it.

And we learned with "See Spot run" and Crayons. <G> I have friends with 2 eyar
old grandchildren that have their own computers already. Wonder what the next
10 years will bring.

Congratulations. Not a strange place at all to post your new father msg; many
have done it in the past, myself included. Get prepared to experience pure joy.
Congrats, Wade, I know your child will grow up to be a strong 3d Animator, as I
hope mine will. Mine turned 15 the other day. 6'1", 200LB, size 14 shoe,
loves steak, potatoes and mom. Make his mom help him with his homework every
night. Don't skimp on this. You help him do animations. Start him on Mavis at
2 and CIS by 3. Mine drives me out of town tomorrow for an appointment. The
only problem with kids growing older is that you grow older too. Enjoy your
child when he is young, but there's nothing like seeing eye to eye (literally)
on some things. Same goes if you child is a girl. Enjoy.

Thanks so much Y'all for the encouraging words. My boy is now 3 weeks old and
has changed so much already! Life itself is the greatest wonder! We adults like
to get caught up in the gory details. If only I could sleep like this kid
does.:-)

yeah, ever since 3DS came out with morphing materials, kids go through the
strangest transformations. <ggg>
