Hello, I need to know differences between Animator Studio and Painter 3.0, because I have to purchase something to animate in 2D and I have doubts. Tanks in advance. Francisco Cubas. Madrid.Spain.

>> I need to know differences between Animator Studio and Painter 3.0, because I have to purchase something to animate in 2D and I have doubts. << Francisco. hola! que tal? no tengo experiencia usando Painter 3.0, pero aqui son algunas preguntas que necesitaran examinacion: a) does the program allow treatement of sound? a1) if so, can painting be done according to sound? a2) if so, can effects like pitch/tempo be edited independent of each other? a3) if so, can effects use envelopes for modification? b) does the program allow painting over time? b1) does it allow use of filter inks (such as kai's power tools) b2) does it allow unlimited undo? b3) does it allow 2 1/2 changes over time? b4) does it have mask-creation over time? these are a smidgeon of the capabilities in Astudio… many of which i don't typically see in other "paint packages". -dave

Gracias por tu respuesta. I will look these capabilities in Painter 3.0, though my interests are more like animating characters and so on. Ah… it's wonderful to read some spanish words from time to time… Thanks…

Well, I need clip-art movements, like move the arms of a scanned aldult comic character but with photorealistic results (that's why animator pro isn't enough for me).

(no push for AniPro here, just trying to understand what the program doesn't do that you need whatever you get to do for you). -dave

>> is it the truecolor capabilities you're looking for? or… what it is about AniPro that doesn't satisfy your needs?<< Of course truecolor is one of my necesities, among others, like: -multiple floating selections. -selections with antialiasing. -realistic tools (airbrush in AniPro is more like spitting pixels) -sensitive-pressure tablet support. -Profesional animation tools, like path modification in selection movements. With AniStud you can manage truecolor, but why Autodesk says that it is not a substitute of AniPro?. What can AniPro do that AniStud doesn't?

okay. for your info only: >> Of course truecolor is one of my necesities, among others, like: << it's there. >> -multiple floating selections. << nope, not there yet. possibly coming in patch. >> -selections with antialiasing. << it's there. >> -realistic tools (airbrush in AniPro is more like spitting pixels) << it's there (a very powerful airbrush by the way) >> -sensitive-pressure tablet support. << it's there… WACOM >> -Profesional animation tools, like path modification in selection movements. << it's there. optics and more are implemented on every tool >> With AniStud you can manage truecolor, but why Autodesk says that it is not a substitute of AniPro?. What can AniPro do that AniStud doesn't? << whole bunch of things…. customization in C language, exact palette control, non-uniform vertex tweening, multiple-resolution fullscreen scripted playback, handling of 5000 frame-flics quickly, memory-management (PharLap) more powerful, etc. list goes on… and there are other blatant differences like AStudio works in native 24-bit w/8-bit alpha for everything whereas AniPro works in 8-bit natively (so for 8-bit apps, it's far more frugal with resources and quicker in session). -dave

Thanks for your information. I think it will be very useful when I get to decide my purchase. Autodesk would appreciate the participation of people like you in this forum. Bye, Francisco. Spain.

Good response from Dave on your question, I think. I do not have info to help you compare, other than suggest you call 415/507-5000 and ask for Multimedia dealer referral line and tell them that you would like a free demo CD for AAStudio. (If you can call 800 phone numbers, call 800/879-4233.)

Thanks for your information. I will try to get that Cd from my Autodesk dealer here in Spain, I guess that will be easier.
