#anti-alias in AS?
12 messages in this thread
Can someone please tell me if Animator Studio can perform REAL anti-aliasing on
typed TEXT? (like Adobe Photoshop can)..?
— Steve, thanks
Steven,
Not sure what you mean by REAL anti-aliasing.
Yes, Animator Studio anti-aliases text. It was a problem with Animator Pro for
a long time, and it got fixed in version 1.3a, but we didn't tell anybody about
it.
Animator Studio is great for doing scrolling text, and flying text with wild
optics moves on it. All antialiased. That's one of the major benefits we got
out of moving from 8 bit to 24 bit color with 8 bit alpha.

Well, what I meant by REAL anti-aliasing was that I heard someone suggest a
work-around in AniPro for anti-aliasing by just using unZag, etc.. as opposed
to whatever the REAL anti-aliasing process is.. but anyhow, it's good to hear
that it's in AniStudio.
BTW, you mentioned that it "got fixed in version 1.3a"? I have v1.3a and I
would REALLY like to know what you mean by that..? Do you mean to say that
anti-aliasing for text has been around on my AniPro and I haven't even known
it? How do I get to it?? Thanks..

Steven,
In Animator Pro 1.3a, when you select a PFB font, there is an UNZAG that
appears. It only appears on PFB fonts. IT does a pretty good job of
Antialiasing the text. Text is also scalable. Check it out.
Good luck,
mark
where do I get the 1.3a version of AniPro? I've discovered that I only have the
1.3 version.. (But I guess it's just a matter of using the UnZag ink on my
text, eh?)
— Steve
Steven,
Actually its alot more that just unzag ink. We reworked all the fonts so they
would antialias nicely. So you get a new CD full of fonts.
I need to find out the number you call. If you have a dealer you can call him,
and say you want to get Ani Pro 1.3a. But I'll find a direct number for you
and send you more mail.
more to come,

"where do I get the 1.3a version of AniPro?"
You need to have your serial number available, and call Customer Service.
800/538-6401 or 707/794-1450.
The upgrade consists of new disks and a new CD.
thanks .. I'll call right away.

Nik,
They had me fax them a photocopy of my 1.3 #2 disk with the serial number. BTW,
they must have run out of CDs or don't send them anymore.
All I received were 3.5 disks. ???
Dave
Dave,
Call them again and demand CD. Make sure you have 1.3a, not 1.3 disks as well.

Yup, they sent me 1.3a.
Is the CD something you think I should really have? What's on it?
Thanks!
100 Postscript Fonts tweaked to work with 1.3a.
Earlier fonts won't work.
If you want antialiased fonts that you can size, you should have the CD.
