Yeah, and for those who are willing to buy another monitor for 640×400, a
monochrome green or amber slow phosphor monitor fot (for) the Amiga works just
as well (Better, actually – since we can have MORE than 640×400) so that's one
pro you can strike off the ST's list – it has the SAME capability as the AMiga,
no more. Oh, well… except that monitors for the Amiga's 640×400 mode a re
MUCH cheaper than are those for the Atari's… AND you don't have to reboot the
amiga to get to that mode… AND you get more than 640×400… AND you can have
both…. AND if you WANT to spend lotsa money like the ST's monochrome monitor,
you can buy a COLOR 640×400 monitor, which the ST doesn't have color hires
anyway, for that matter is short on colors in the first place, and besides
that…. Well, just look at all those advantages the ST has. <grin> –Ben–
"Lots of money" ? ST monochrome monitors are $200. What do you suggest in a
long persistance amber for the Amiga? I'm looking for a 9 inch.
Steve, I dunno – but they tend to sell for arounf $70 in green, $90.00 in amber
around here… 200.00 is a lot of money compared to that. Especially
considering the REST of the things you lose with an ST… like COLOR. <grin>.
I've got an old green one here with a 5 inch screen… sharp as a razor, slow
as mud… perfect for 640×400 work; you can't even SEE the pixels in most
cases. Course, you look away and the entire world is orange… but that's
progress. <grin>. –Ben–
