I spoke too soon. My VD0: is still being wiped out whenever I reboot. I am
using the "ADD" to add my additional RAM. I have tried putting a "DIR"
statement in my Startup-sequence right after the "ADD" and "Mount VD0:" and "CD
VD0:" to see if it would give me a directory of the VD0:disk, but it doesn't.
It just keeps right on going with the rest of the startup-sequence, loadng in a
new VD0:. Frustrated!

vd0: won't recover if the memory is cleared. See Larry's reply to you
about using ADDMEM. Out of curiosity, which memory board are you using? Most
of them will auto-config under v1.2 of the Amiga Operating System and don't
need to be ADDMEM'ed and that would clear up your problem.
If you are using a board that doesn't auto-config, you may not be able
to get vd0: to recover until you find a new program to add the memory to the
system without clearing it.

I'm using a 1 meg board called Jumboram. It does not autoconfigure. I am trying
to use that "ADD" program of Larry's to add the RAM without clearing the VD0:
upon rebooting the system. Somehow it keeps clearing all my ram: everytime I
reboot though, including the VD0:

It's possible that the Jumboram board does it's own clearing. I've
seen a few boards that held off RAM refresh during a reset…so unless you were
real quick…you'd lose everything.
Try this, use Larry's ADD program, but when you do a warm-start (
nothing will survive a cold start)…do it as quickly as possible. That is,
hold down the CTL and Left Amiga keys, and then just quickly tap the right
Amiga key. See if that helps…if it does, that's the problem, the board isn't
doing a RAM refresh (keeping the contents) during the RESET of the CPU.

Ever try Fastmemfirst after adding your memory but before mounting your VD0:? I
have had similar problems with the A2000 & expansion memory, in particular the
A2052.

BTW, where do I find FastMemFirst? I looked in the libraries here, but could
not find it.
