ARexx may not implement IPC in what you consider the 'right way', but it does
provide IPC for any program, and more so if the programs have an ARexx
interface. It does this now, and does it well. As far as i know, there are no
other packages that can do it that are available now, so for many, it's a
matter of either having ARexx or doing without its IPC facility.
Personally, the farther I can stay away from Lisp, the happier I am, but then
that's simply personal preference.

Well, that's my point Larry. If you don't like Lisp, that shouldn't be the
only way to do IPC, ditto with anything else, including ARexx.
None of my comments should be construed as criticism of ARexx's performance,
which I am sure is probably excellent, considering who wrote it – I am sure it
does the job well. I just am not excited by the language, and I would prefer a
more general IPC mechanism than any single language or macro package or
whatever.

Sorry if I misconstrued your meaning. I agree; the more means we have to
implement IPC, the better off we will be.
