Here's one for you:
Why does AAP allow one to enter 17 characters in the file spec box when
saving files? DOS and AAP will only recognize 8 characters.
I noticed this when I had made (by accident) a nine character file name and
then saved it; thereby overwriting an almost similar eight character file.
AAP will just truncate anything over eight charactes.
Is there reason for the 17 character space?

1. Way back in the mid fifties (when I was but a young lad), my father
brought home our very first television set. It was, of course,
black-and-white; for color had not been invented in those ancient days. In
the back of the cabinet was a tube socket covered with a rainbow-printed
cardboard, above which was the following sign: "Plug Color-TV Adaptor in
here, when it becomes available." Of course, I waited anxiously for many
years for the special Color-TV Adaptor, but it never made it to the market.
Years later, when the faithful old TV had at last broken down, I dismantled
it to discover that the Color-TV Adaptor circuit was nothing more than a
vacuum-tube socket that had been attached to the back of the chassis. There
weren't even any wires hooked up… In much the same way, AniPro provides
17 characters of filename input that will become very useful in the future
when the new DOS comes along that allows more than eight characters.
2. I don't know.
