Has anyone got Music-X to work correctly on an unaccelerated machine? (ie. the A600) It apparently works on some machines but not others, but no-one seems to know why.

Mike, That's the best info that I have as well, although I have to admit that I've never actually known anybody with an unaccelerated machine that has Music-X working properly for real-time input. (How about it, anybody here have a different experience?) David

I use to use Music-X on an unaccelerated A2000 with 4 Meg of memory on a Supra memory card and a Quantum 80 Meg drive on a Supra Wordsync card. No problems, I only switched to B&P because I like it better! Bill… on Autopilot in Womelsdorf 😉

Bill, Can I ask how you were using Music-X? Music-X functioned quite well for me, at least the portions that I used (which did _not_ include Sysex), except for real time recording of quick, complex piano sequences. I had one run that would always turn up some errors on my unaccelerated A500. This happened whether the HD/extra ram was in or out, or whether I was running a 68000, 68010, or 68C000. The reason I ask about your usage is to see whether you actually had a unaccelerated machine that ran Music-X properly, or whether your usage might not have turned up the problem. David

I was using Music-X to sequence some fairly complex stuff, most 'recording was done from keyboards, though I also used two different guitar controllers and an Octopad. Never had any problems recording, except the obvious inherent problems with guitar-to-MIDI, which haven't been solved by switcching sequencers. So I don't blame those on Music-X. Perhaps it was the extra memory that save me! Bill… on Autopilot in Womelsdorf 😉

I am part of the company that was left when MicroIllusions disappeared. We currently support Music X and other MI products. Music X does work on unaccelerated machines. The system is as follows: Amiga 600 with 40mb hard drive (IDE), 1mb chip RAM, 2mb fast RAM, Music-X v1.1b. The problem occurs when trying to record MIDI sequences. I'm researching this for one of my customers so I don't have many more details. I understand it gets 'errors' and misses events. I would appreciate any help I could get. The customer service people are working on it. They think it might be the new dos version that comes with the A-600. We are checking it out, can you check on what Dos version the customer is running? Thanks, Jeff Lander Hollyware Entertainment
