I just purchased a DeskJet and have been pretty satisfied so far. The only
program that gives me extra pages after a print cycle is TextCraft Plus. A
different problem is PageSetter. It starts printing too low on the sheet after
one page has been printed. This forces the DeskJet to finish the print job on
the top of the next sheet. I've tried most Preference settings to no avail.
Have you tried your DeskJet with a DTP program?
I'am getting the blank page using Scribble!
I had the problem of moving down a line with the old HPII Laser drivers. Make
sure Preferences is set to 66 lines. Have not tried DTP Programs yet.

Sounds like you need to check your page length setting. My Laserjet at work
will only print 60 lines to a page, and that causes similar problems with
certain things that expect to be able to print 66.
I have (3) DeskJets at work, and I had to set the Page length to 60 or 78
standard/legal. The printer has 1/2 inch margin at the top and bottom. I also
get a blank page at end end of each print job, will look into when I have more
time.

That jibes with my experience with the Laserjet. If a program outputting to
the printer sends line-feeds to get to the top of the next page it causes all
sorts of problems. If the the last page of print sends enough line-feeds to
advance to the next page, then sends a form-feed to finish the document,
voila!, blank page.
Remember that LaserJets have a bit of space at all the edges (top, bottom,
left, and right) which MAY NOT BE PART OF THE IMAGE! I believe that it's 3
lines at top and bottom (1/2 inch) and 0.2 inch on left and right (2 chars.)
The LaserJet will ABSOLUTELY NOT print on lines 1-3 and 63-66. Perhaps that is
the reason for your form feed, eh?
