Any more word on my problem with Whap and ^P for Tymnet access from Canada?
JUst for your info I sent a ^P to CIS (when using an ordinary comm program) and
got the same "unknown pad command" error. So ^P does not work from here if you
want to terminate output and take you to a CIS prompt……^C is the closest
thing to it that we can use. Anychance of a fix …..otherwise we can't use
Whap!

Ed,
Jim Stevens has uploaded a new version (Whap! 1.2D) into DL16. This
version did fix the problem with Tymnet and also adds Telenet!!! It's really
great how fast he corrects the bugs and comes back with a new version.

Well, I had given up on Compuserve until now!!! Whap! is GREAT! I do have a
question though. This question has to do with some line noise problems that I
have had in the past. I called Compuserve Customer Service and they gave me a
telenet line to call. They SAID this line is both 1200/2400 baud, and when I
log on with Whap! I only get 1200. Now, I will be honest and say that I have
not tried with a normal terminal program to log on at 2400. Perhaps I should do
that no?
Another question, I have noted that after I end my session, after grabbing all
of my new messages, Whap! logs me off of Compuseve but telenet does not see it
for about 4 minutes.
Any hints?

That might be another buggette. You can hit the hangup button and disconnect
from telenet. If you're still connected, just type HANGUP at the @ prompt

Eeek, that is enough violence!!! Where is my checkbook! I can't deal with the
advertisement no longer 🙂 I hope to get ya something out to mail by the
weekend. I really really like this, I dont suppose you would consider doing
this for other systems as well? (Dare I say GEnie?) Nah, I would never say
that word on here!

with Whap!, There are always possiblities captain.. 🙂

Whap! is running smoothly for me, and I've settled into a comfortable routine.
Hopefully my questions from now on will just be suggestions or nitpicks. For
example: in the text editor. If I delete the end of a message, the text
appears to be deleated, but not the lines where it lived. This means that some
of my messages online have uncessary extra blank lines after the salutation.
Am I doing something wrong? I'd rather not subject my correspondents to even a
short scroll of darkness. (Hmmm, sounds like a lesser spell in an RPG…)

There are a couple of flakies in the editor that I know of. Should you
get what appears to be doubled lines and/or disappearing text, don't panic.
It's a redraw problem. Just hit SHIFT-up or down arrow to force a redraw of
the screen. I'll get that fixed shortly and a bit suprised that no one's
yelled about it yet!

I noticed the redraw problem, but didn't panic. 😉 My question concerned the
inability to delete blank lines at the end of a message. I noticed when I
deleted text, the lines remained, so my messages were uploaded with several
blank lines at the end of them.

There is always 1 blank line at the end. Before saving, if you want to
delete extraneous blank lines you may have created, position the cursor at the
end of the last line and hit delete a few times.

I've noted a couple of "flakies" myself. Using the "-" key from the key
pad will erase the whole line. <maybe it's supposed to?> If I use the <enter>
key instead of <return> sometimes? the text scrolls upwards just out of view.

No, those aren't flakies. Keypad minus will delete the line that the
cursor is on. Keypay plus will open a blank line below that of the cursor.
Lee, if you catch this, sorry, I meant Keypad minus, not delete. Position
the cursor on the first blank line after your text and hit minus a few times.

Gee great thanks…..I'll dl and try out the new one.

I dl'ed the new version (1.2D) and it seems to have done the trick. I
logged on and got my T2400 file set up and collected messages and file
catalogues without any problem. Sure wish you had put the abbreviated whap
module and doc file before the full new version……I was doing a browse and
only saw the abbreviated version after having dl'ed the full version.
One question about the main screen gadgets…..I highlighted the 'C'
gadget while playing around and haven't found a way to unhighlight it….is
there one? And a suggestion for the 'Read' screen…..could you put the keep
and next gadgets beside each other….mousing from one side of the screen to
the other is a bit hard on the wrist <grin>…..plus could you have keep go
onto the next message automatically….it seems to be a bit of unneccessary
motion to have to click on 'next' after having said save. It would also me
nice to have the date inserted automatically at either the top or bottom of the
catalogue file (that is the date on which the catalogue was made> plus the
backwards time interval to that point that the catalogue represents. What do
you think?

Ed,
You could always use the COMMSEQ keys. Right-Amiga-K for Keep,
Right-Amiga-N for next (or right arrow).
You may want to keep a message before you reply to or after you've replied
to it. It doesn't make any assumptions on what order things should be done.
To unhighlight the C, delete the .BRO file in ram:. Exit the program and
rerun it.
