CD-ROM cache under DOS

I am presently using the CD-ROM cache of Lighting for Windows. It has
dramatically improved my drives performence. My question is how does
CD-Speedway compare to Light.sys for Lighting. If there isn't a big
improvement I can't see that it is worth the $100. Do you have some
comparison specs on these two?

I have been using SpeedCache Plus and I think it might be more what you are
looking for. It is a single cache that will cache your CD-ROM and the
other drives in your system at the same time. (It is also must likely the
fastest cache on the planet.) You might want to check it out.

Hopefully, you have found compatibility with your CDROM drivers. We have
had numerous reports from the field regarding in-compatibility with
Lightning and CDROM drivers.
However, on the performance side, as I mentioned earlier; CD Speedway is
the only CDROM product to use integrated file caching for read-ahead.
There's been a lot of talk on forums like GAMERS where they have found
Speedway to offer compatibility with Multimedia applications on non-MPC
drives. I'd like to see other caches do that <g>…
In addition, where we tested other caches, including Lightning, not one
could come close to our benchmark results on these applications, which is
why none have come forward to say that they can match the performance of
Speedway. The benchmarks are available in the LIB, along with
configuration advise and performance expectations.
