I have had a GVP 40meg HC for several months now and have never had one
bad sector, so I assume that your harddrive, which appears to have numerous
defects, may simply be bad. My installation software gave me no problems
whatsoever, so I don't think this update will make a difference.

I was told that the HC has a logic built in that detects bad sectors and
automatically remaps them so you might not know if there are any bad sectors.
Or so I was told.
