Greetings and Salutaions, I'm having a memory problem with Turbo Silver 3.0. A wire frame animation lasting 27 frames is eating over 2 megs of ram. Its impossible to render it. I tried the eXternal command but that doen't seem to work with the Story command, the story parameters disapear when use the Source and Target commands. Is there any way to save memory and still use Silvers powerful animation capabilities? Can Group be used with the eXternal command? Also, what does it mean when silver asks if it can delete RGB files? And what does Sort mean in the edit menue, its not in the manuel. Thanx and Goodbye, Paul

I have done many animations on my 2 meg A1000 in wire frame with 30 frames and more with no problem. This has not always been the case, but I have made enough mistakes/hardware upgrades/modifications that it is starting to pay off. I usually follow this routine. First I compose the Key cell for the 30 or so frames to include any light sources, objects that need the story feature, and any other objects that will remain constant for the entire animation. Usually I Save each object, delete it, then do an External on them. Next I exit the key cell and make 30 'real' cells. I then make sure that 'Use Story' is checked off on the CELLS menu. I click on the Key cell, press <leftAmiga>+<Z> to select the source, go to the EDIT menu and select All, then press <leftAmiga>+<T> to do the Target. I then verify that the story made it to the targets by entering a few cells and doing <leftAmiga>+<W> to look at the Wire frame, then do my best guess as to whether the story made it. If it did, I add any other objects that have to go in individual cells. I select and render the first frame in Solid Model mode to check the lighting. If good, I change to Wire Frame mode and do a Make Scene to check the action. Next, if everything is good so far, I select All from the EDIT menu and Select either Solid Model or Full Trace . I then do a GENERATE on all of the selected frames, so recovery is easy in the event of a crash. When Generate is done in a few minutes/hours/days, I do a Save, close, and open, select all cells and then do a Make Scene or Make Movie. Finally, if there is any doubt about the size of the animation, save, close and Exit TSilver. Click once on the FileName.Ani icon, then select Info from the Workbench menu. Go to the tools menu and set the correct path to the Player utility (the default is 'Silver:Player'), then click on save. Click on the FileName.Ani icon again and it will play, maybe. You didn't mention what resolution you were rendering in, whether or not it was in Stereo Vision, what machine (A0.5k, A1k,A2k,A2.5k, etc.) your were using, nor what the drive situation was. All of that matters, more or less. I don't work for Impulse, but I do send them checks when ever I can. If all else fails, send me your Key cell and I will try to render it for you, pokey ol'A1000 that it is. I don't know what Sort is for, maybe some about Object names….whatever… Bob. This has always worked for me, since I (a) grounded my daugher board PALS, (b) got a hard drive, and (c) got a 10 Mhz 68000.
