Does anyone know how to send and receive echomail on an Amiga BBS from an
IBM BBS? My Girlfriend is running 4D-BBS and would like to local echo some
message bases from the local BBSs, most of which run on IBMs. She's got an
A1000, so no Bridge Board. Even IBM source code in C would work, she's an
accomplished C programmer. I can't find any thing over in the IBMCOM
section, or IBMBBS, or here, but maybe I'm not looking in the right place.
Anyone here able to help? Thanks!
That's an easier question. Purchase "Paragon" BBS for about $200. It has
full echomail support.
Well, I don't think she'd want to buy Paragon. The author of 4D is letting
her modify the source code, and she's pretty partial to it. She has the
BBS up and running under 4D, and to re-do all the work she's put into it…
Well, I'm starting to feel like a "computer widow!" But thanks! It's an
option. Maybe for Christmas or something I'll get her Paragon. She's
really getting into this sysop business. And the board is unique. I don't
think she'd be happy with an BBS that she didn't have source to. She was
writing her own, and still is, sort of. She was up to 3,000 lines last
time I counted.
I certainly sympathize with "custom interface" bulletin boards. The
technical information required to write a Fidonet compatible mailer is
contained in a dozen or so Technical Documents published by the
International Fidonet organization. "Published" in the sense of they try
to make it available for downloading, not in the sense that you can wrie to
them and get a bunch of helpful guidelines. I know System Enhancement
Associates (authors of the original ARC, SEAdog, AXE, and Kitten) keep them
online, but I don't have the number of their BBS handy.
