'Ben- Glad to see that WinImage:Morph is at the release stage. Will there be any details posted here? Michael

Not unless I see a need to, no. –Ben …via AutoPilot

Ben: You might just go ahead and post details of WinImage when it becomes available. I try to keep informed of new PC software so I can get new goodies for my 386BB. Of course, I probably would never buy WinImage since I can use IM on my 4000 <g>. But I do frequent a lot of the local PC BBS's around town so I could post the details when it becomes available. Just curious, how does WinImage compare with ImageMaster? Does it have all the same capabilities like image processing, compositing, paint, morph, etc? // \X/ John – K7KB (Who enjoys harrasing the vendors)

John, the info on WinImage:morph is posted – in the PC forums, of course. :^) To answer what you've asked though, this is a morphing program, only. The PC doesn't have the resources to be able to run a program as capable as Imagemaster, nohow. You'd have to "modularize" it a'la AdPro, and that would cripple it seriously. The idea here is that individual functions or classes of functions (like morphing) can be single programs; and with any luck, that will provide the need functionality. It is available now, and a runnable demo can be found in the GraphDev libraries here on CIS, or on our BBS at (406) 367-2227. Thanks for your interest. –Ben …via AutoPilot

Ben, -> You'd have to "modularize" it a'la AdPro, and that would cripple it -> seriously Another nice kick in ASDG's direction. In fact, I'd love ImageMaster to be as modularized as ADPro is. I don't see a need to load and unpack more than 1MB of code every time. Sometimes I just want to scale an image. I'll continue to use ADPro for that since IM is cumbersome in that respect. What IS klutzy about ADPro, though, is its memory management. (I just wanted to say it before you were going to ;^). How 'bout a "modularized" IM V11 ? ;^) Tom / Amiga Imagineer from Switzerland with AutoPilot engaged

You are of course entitled to your opinion. :^) IM does things AdPro can't, and one of the reasons why is because it's not modular. One thing will use another thing in a very widespread manner; so you can't just take them apart. The base engine doesn't fit in 640k, even without ONE "function". Until and unless Windows creates a dependable flat memory model, you can forget it. –Ben …via AutoPilot

PC's are such Kludges, are they all still so limited??? Never was one for the Main Stream ;^) Later

They are indeed still that limited. –Ben …via AutoPilot

Ben, You'd probably have to wait for the over-hyped NT for a dependable memory management on an Intel box. Unless you want to develop for OS/half 8^(. Tom / Amiga Imagineer from Switzerland with AutoPilot engaged

No, looks like OS/2 is out of the running, at least from where I sit. One of our programmers has a big OS/2 system at home; he spends a lot of time moaning about it. –Ben …via AutoPilot

Ben, A place where OS/2 is heavily used is in all companies that use PCs as frontends to their IBM mainframe or midrange systems. OS/2 is their best choice. Not much of a market for YOU, though, I guess. Tom / Amiga Imagineer from Switzerland with AutoPilot engaged

No, not much of a market at all. –Ben …via AutoPilot

I tried it…………I removed it…………would like to do the same to Windows.

OK Ben, I'll go ahead and download the demo version of WinImage and post it on some of our local IBeamer BBS's, but of course mention that the best version is on the Amiga 8^) // \X/ John – K7KB (Who enjoys harrasing the vendors)
