To all MicroBotics users and owners:
MicroBotics has moved into larger quarters. We had to, because no one
makes bunk desks! 😎
Our new address is:
MicroBotics, Inc.
1251 American Parkway
Richardson, TX 75081

Note that only the street address changed. The phone number, city, state,

We'd like to thank all of our customers who allowed us to outgrow our old
facility.
Thank You!!!
Rick, as an owner of a Starboard 2 on my A500 let me congratulate you! A
question, please. Since adding my Starboard, I get many more lockups and
keyboard errors. I have been told this is due to noise on the bus. This
does not happen when the Starboard is hooked up to a friends A500. Any
suggestions, based on your experience? I have been told that my 500, which
is about three years old, may need new PAL chips, or a new 68000 or a 68010
to improve grounding. Thanks! Don
I had a similar problem with an A1000. The problem wasn't the Starboard
itself, but this is what I found:
1. The main problem was that the 256k add on memory connector
had gotten dirty.
2. So had the expansion connector.
3. The Cltd controller didn't connect well to the Starboard due to
the screwheads on the Cltd controller being too tall.
Unless it is really corroded, I do not recommend cleaning the connectors
with an ink eraser. (You'll hear this one a lot). Use a Qtip or better
yet a foam type Qtip for VCR heads and Alcohol. Make sure no fuzz from
the
qtip remains. Fixed mine 🙂

Well, yes, it's entirely possible that grounding is a problem. Early A500s
were plagued by similar problems that early A1000s had which was inadequate
grounding or weak PALs (meaning that they didn't supply adequate drive
capabilities). I'm sure that others here on CIS may have more experience
with this than I do.
Understand, I don't work for MicroBotics (I'm not an employee), but I do
consult for them, write code, alpha (and beta) test stuff, and represent
them here on CIS. I'll check with our (er, their 😎 tech. folks and try
to get an answer for you.
